Anybody here do acupuncture / eastern medicine even though you think it's a steamy pile of bullshit?

Why can't i shake the feeling like it's a gigantic fraud?

The first time I did acupuncture I stopped the lady halfway through because I am scared of needles and I just couldn't take anymore. This is why I know acupuncture works. The half of my body which was treated was significantly better than the other side. Despite how much I loathe needles, I swear it works. Find someone who is experienced. If you want to test it, do one side of your body. My test wasn't intentional but made me a believer for life. :thumbsup

True story and why I "believe" in acupuncture.

Growing up I had a part beagle dog that was hit by a mail truck, causing spine damage and a dislocation vertibrae in the spine. Several doctors told my mother it would be inoperable and we would have to put down the dog, whose tail now bent down at a broken looking right angle instead of the upright curve that would be normal.

Finally, as one last measure, a vet recommended we try acupuncture as a last ditch effort to try and help.

Not only did it provide relief but the dog went on to recover, only needing occaisional treatments thereafter. There is no way a dog would "believe" the treatment would work like the way witch doctors can make people "believe" a bone wiggled at them can heal or kill them.

yes they're great if you're suicidal and want to finish the job.

seriously accupuncture, accupressure works.

i will prove this to you now.

the next time you get a charly horse (constrict a muscle) in your leg pinch or squeeze the flesh below your nose and above your upper lip exactly in the middle. squeeze it fairly hard so it makes a vertical pinch and hold it.

if it doesnt do it the first time bare with it and re-pinch in the same area.

you're charly horse will go away in seconds.

all points on the body are connected to other points and have a direct effect on those points.

They did double blind studies, acupuncture actually works.

The twist is, that it doesn't matter if the acupuncturist is trained in eastern medicine or just some dude jabbing needles in at random, both had equal levels of effectiveness.

So, uh, grab your own needles and go to town...

I used acupuncture to resolve a leg issue after the doctors gave up on me. I hobbled in to the acupuncturist, walked out and after two sessions I was 100% again. I am a believer.

You can try to put a needle in your own body. It could help you.

I had nerve damage/pinching from weight lifting with bad technique, and to top it off i was sleeping on a shitty mattress. It caused my hands and feet to the numb and i lost sensation and feeling in my hands. Do you have any idea how much this sucks when your grabbing a girls tits and you cant feel how soft and nice her skin is, the little bumps on her nipples? it was FUCKED.

So i went to the physio, who tried everything and couldn't help me,

So I tried the chiropractor, who tried everything and couldn't help me,

Finally I tried the accupuncturist, and about 30 seconds after the needles went in, instant relief, i could feel my muscles around my neck and top of my back melt and i regained feeling in my hands and feet for about another week and it started to come back just before my second appointment, so i went two more times (total of 3 times) and it cured me.

It works but I think it depends on what specifically you are trying to treat.
