I've just mistyped gfy.com in the address bar and the browser has taken me straight to... http://www.webaddresshelp.bt.com/main? .
It looks like motherfuckers have discovered how to get extra bucks.

It looks like a British search engine working with yahoo. Another url is http://www.btyahoo.com.

you can opt-out of the comcast redirect.

You can use Google DNS or Open DNS to bypass it.

Don't OpenDNS also return valid records (leading to a web page with advertising on it) for invalid hostnames?

Yes. I believe they allow you to disable it if you upgrade your account ($10 a year). Google's is free for all and without it (http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/). You can use others as well. I know there used to be another one much like OpenDNS but without the 404 ads which was intended for European users but I forget the name.
