is the word 'mate' as in 'mating' good in human context?
i have a domain with the word 'mate' in it where the meaning is like 'mating'. It's a pretty clever domain name, is this ok to use as kind of a witty name in a human context?
Because the word mating in dutch is solely for the animal world, but could be used in such a way i guess (as in a witty domain name for a dating site). How about the US? |
When I see that word I think of breeding.
|
Just think of animals.

mate means friend, buddy, bro in the world of the English and Aussies :D
|
rooting means fucking :D
fag means smoke, cigarette (bum a fag off ya mate!) |
so lets say you say something like....
"from dating... to mating!" that way people expect that a date will get them laid on that site... in a playful kind of way... or does that still has too much of a breeding / animal meaning to it? |
mate is for animals or friends
|
Yeah, beats the word "relationship"...
|
over here in the uk it means friend we say " hello mate how u doing" or "Im just going down the pub with my mate"
