I'm just discovering Online Poker...I'm HOOKED!

I watched a poker for dummies DVD and they mentioned pokerstars...So I went there and got a play money account...Earlier today, I was losing money left and right...But later I played for less than an hour and I was up $50....If I can win $100 a day consistently, I will open a real account and I'll do nothing but drink wine, smoke weed, and play poker....

All you have to do is THINK and you will be fine....And be ready to fold at any time.

What services do y'all use?..I'm only familiar with pokerstars.

amateurbfs 10-07-2010 09:32 PM

LOL man so many webmasters go through this I think. You're not going to win $100 a day man. You might but odds are totally against you. For what it's worth, I play on Poker Stars as well..

papill0n 10-07-2010 09:33 PM

careful man

poker is like crack

full tilt here lol

d-null 10-07-2010 09:33 PM

you need to realize that a playmoney game is completely different than a real money game, and a low buyin game is completely different than a high buyin game

it is actually bad to play too much playmoney games, because the players do not play anything like they do when real money is on the line, so you are not learning much except the very basic rules, but strategies are a whole different thing

Spunky 10-07-2010 09:35 PM

Positive rep for you!

Robocrop 10-07-2010 09:37 PM

Play money....? you 13 years old or something? be a man and play real or go back to selling crack outside your 7-11

True...but I make sure that I use that playmoney like it's MY money....I almost had a heartattack when I folded on the flop cause I had nothing knowing that the ONLY card to be thrown on the river to give me a straight would be a 10...Sure enough, it was a TEN......I was pissed...If I was playing it like it wasn't real money, I would've continued to play it.

And yes, I know I will lose...However, It seems like common sense prevails...I can even feel when somebody is bluffing through the computer screen :)

the issue isn't how YOU play, it is how the other players are playing :2 cents:

Wouldn't there be even MORE pressure to fold on a bad hand when you have money to lose? I'm already bullying players into folding on fake money...

woj 10-07-2010 09:46 PM

just put $50 in and play for real, like d-null said playing with play money is kinda pointless... you aren't going to learn anything...

yes, there is a whole different dynamic to the game, and it follows through the higher stake you go, some find it easy to make money in the cheapest level but then get blown away when they try playing higher levels, you'll understand when you try it

don't be intimidated about trying the cheap games though, there are many terrible players and you will learn a lot more playing for low stakes than you are learning in the free games

V_RocKs 10-07-2010 09:49 PM

I used to make about $100 to $175 a day playing online. Back when Party Poker was the only place in town and before gangs of fucks would come on and collude.

I need to get back into it again. Biggest problem is my old lady thinks it is just a joke.. So when I have $500 in my account from solid play for 3 or 4 days she wants $250 to fuck off drunk style... So I stopped and she stopped... I should start up secretly again.

stocktrader23 10-07-2010 09:53 PM

BVF, serious reply.

If you are smart enough to run your own paysite all these years you are smart enough to beat poker. $100 a day can be done on the damn .25 tables if you really want to win. Just learn the odds of hitting your hand on the turn / river, factor in odds of someone folding if you bet, and play a shitload of hands so you get a feel for it. I've got bored of it but I've consistently won for damn near a decade now.

Nah, all the people to conservative to load money are playing there. Real games are many levels deep on strategy.

I agree with you, but it really starts to feel like a job, a boring monotonous job that takes many hours and discipline, I think you could make much more putting the same effort and time into something else, really :2 cents:

Well, I wouldn't say you can make more in something else. The hardcore understudies of the game make millions / year online and you don't even know their names. However, for a semi serious player, 100% correct. I played while it was fun, I love to take someones money even if it's 50 cents. Especially if they are playing stupid. I hate the shit now, I only play live where I can at least call someone a retard to their face. :)

BVF 10-07-2010 10:01 PM

Just won with a full house...I'm up 47 bucks since I started this thread

BVF 10-07-2010 10:31 PM

I'm up 120...I could cash out right now if it was real money.

tonyparra 10-07-2010 10:52 PM

i stopped playing when all that dont use a usa bank account shit was going on, how are you guys cashing in /out?

BVF 10-07-2010 10:54 PM

I'm done...I ended up around 115...Not bad.

DimeCash 10-07-2010 10:58 PM

$100 day?

How about $100 an hour :thumbsup (thats my pace) :winkwink:

Anyways - pick you budget and stick to it - there are many out there that make $50K/mth and more playing multi-table - 8 to 10 hours a day. There are many that started small and make it a full time gig.

anyone can win at play money, cos no one takes it seriously. its no diff than playing facebook poker.

btw get rakeback at fastrakeback.com and you get holdem manager (track your stats) + 3 months of cardrunners. and you get rakeback (27%). you have to pay like $50 in rake or something but you clear that quickly

Paul&John 10-07-2010 11:25 PM

I'm playing the free tournaments at bwin :)

Socks 10-07-2010 11:37 PM

you'll be 8 tabling in no time.

Gasper 10-07-2010 11:39 PM

dude, quit now or quit 2 years later with $20.000 lost .. but 2 years later it will be much much harder

Argos88 10-08-2010 12:00 AM

its all gambling.. like FOREX...

99% lose money with it.. even when you are convinced you could make a living,.. take care dude..

nico-t 10-08-2010 12:13 AM

play money is indeed useless
discipline is the key..
where i lost big was this mistake: having a beautiful hand but knowing the other has an even higher hand, but not folding and going agrssively all in because its "such a waste to put a hand like this down!!"... well its a waste to keep playing it when you know youre gonna lose lol.
And when you have everything under control nothing is so frustrating as a bad beat....
I dont play anymore 'real' games for a couple of years now... only sproradically a low $ game for the fun of it

Fuck Poker Stars and it's Zionist operation. Owned by a bunch of banker pigs that funnel money into the military complex that Israel is using in the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians.

Martin 10-08-2010 01:19 AM

BTW, play money games and real money games are a little different.

Better to load some real cash and play at the low tables. Not only for your own dicipline, but for the players round you. There are a lot fewer all-ins at a real money table than at a play money table.
One gotta know when you're beat, and not be to proud of your hand. Sometimes you just need to let it go, even though it might be hard. It's rough, but a beautiful mind game and I love to take their money and see them suffer, cry and whine like babies!

You're more likely to lose $100 a day IMO.

seeandsee 10-08-2010 06:47 AM

be carefull, my friend playing online holdem professional with 2000$ daily limit making them good bank can't make such ROI on his own accounts, when you play with your own money it's harder

InfinityOscar 10-08-2010 06:50 AM

I'm a big poker player myself but playing online is one thing that i avoid. i would never leave my house :p

Wizzo 10-08-2010 06:55 AM

Rush poker at Fulltilt is the shizit! You can easily make a few k in a afternoon and because the players are constantly changing its tough for people to collude.

The only thing that sucks is in the US, you can only wire $950 3times a week or something like that.

fatfoo 10-08-2010 06:55 AM

Poker is part luck and part skill. Some players do win consistently because of their skill.

fatfoo 10-08-2010 06:57 AM

Some people talk about Lady Gaga and "Poker Face." Did anyone see one of the latest Lady Gaga songs called "You've Left Me Speechless"? She has beautiful hair and she sings well in that video.

People who play like it's fake money make dumb mistakes like raising hands and staying in when they're beat....I play it like IT'S MY OWN MONEY!...I make it so I feel the pain of losing money even though it's not mine.

And whether it's real or play money, it doesn't change the dealing of the cards. It's all math and skill and a little bit of chance anyway....Now let's see how much I win today....

<<<<<<<<< read this immediately and get ready to have your dreams shattered >>>

first and foremost - you will NOT make 100$/day - you will lose. lose. lose. L - O - S - E.

Here is the first extremely dangerous mistake you are making.

Play money has nothing to do with the way YOU are playing wise guy - it's the OTHER PEOPLE!!!! Other people are playing like it's play money AND THAT'S WHY YOU GOT LUCKY AND WON A COUPLE BUCKS OF PLAY MONEY lolz

Sit down at an amateur bullshit skill-less 1/2$ NL game with 100$ real dollars and you'll get eaten alive. These guys suck and they are about 10,000x better than you, literally.

I can't believe the clowns that win in play money and don't realize the players on real money tables are WORLDS AHEAD IN SKILL AND COMPETITION vs play money idiots

People making 100$/day (the people you'd have to play against to make that money) are doing this FOR A LIVING - GRINDING - FOR YEARS ON END

nope, go ahead go take them all on... laugh...
