Now that is a different kind of upsell

I lost part of my driving license and so am having to fill out the online form to pay for a replacement copy.

I am about to check out and pay the fee and at the bottom of the page there is a box to check with this 'I wish to register on the NHS Organ Donor Register, as someone whose organs can be used for a transplant after my death. If you are already an organ donor you do not need to answer this question. If you do not wish to register on the NHS Organ Donor Register click 'Next' to continue with your application. '

I know that so they can mark it on your license but still, it was weird how it was put in there like an upsell.

Sort of implies they think you might drive like an idiot and make your organs available.

very strange way to recruit organ donors..makes you think twice about driving safer

Organ donations are very hard to get people to register for, even among people who have family members saved by donated organs it's pretty crazy. Adding simple ways for people to register is a great idea and if a scammy tool we use can be used for good I'm all for it! Hell make em prechecked and hidden!

Stupid question: how do you lose "part" of your drivers license?

It's amazing that an organ can be transplanted from one body to another. They can transplant a heart from one person to another. What an amazing science. I don't want another man's heart inside me. My heart is who I am.

In Va, they used to have a 2 part drivers license - one was the ID card in a plastic sleeve and the other was a paper portion that, if I remember correctly, had your insurance information and allowed you to opt in for being an organ donor if you chose to do so at a later date.

In the UK, the license has two parts. You have the photo card part which is like an American licence and then you have a separate paper licence. I lost a wallet that had the paper part in it.

they need to somehow pull out that from people, i know it's a bit unusual but it can help in future and save lives.

It was an unchecked box and you had to check it to opt out.
