I'm still downloading it. Why is it going so fuckign slow?

Completely re-worked talent trees for every class.

Many game stats removed: Armor Penetration, MP5, +block rating, etc. Replaced with 1 stat: Mastery.

I gave up on WOW ages ago though my account is still active afaik (should really cancel lol) its fun, but pissed me off how serious you have to take it just to get to go to the raids etc. I will prob buy the expansion, quest to 85, play the new dungeons a few times and then shelve it for another 18 months.

New patch is awesome. Lots of people are crying like babies because of the change but if that game didn't occasionally change things up, none of us would be playing it now.

It is pretty nuts, I started reading up on it after I patched yesterday, but got tired just trying to read everything. Going to pick up where I left off later today after I get some shit done. Pretty big fucking patch though and overall, in the long run, this is suppose to simplify everything.

I logged in for the first time in 3 months yesterday just to patch the game up. I might give it a whirl but I think I'm pretty much done with it.

I swear it has been downloading this patch all day.

They fucked me on the heirloom pieces. had a 150 marks was gonna buy 3 pieces figured with the new patch heirlooms would be cheaper they converted my marks to 1000 justice points heirloom pieces are now 2500 justice points fucking pissed me off :(

17 percent downloaded...with apparently now 20 hours to go. I'm just going to let it do it overnight before I go too mental over it. I don't have time to play tonight anyway.

My husband got the patch down yesterday and said the new layout is messing with his ocd.

Copy the "Updates" folder over from your hubby's wow install, to your wow install folder.

Open game, it will see the full patch data and install, save yourself several hours.

My youngest is into it again after being away for a while. He was talking about the patch yesterday.

Part of the reason for my SoCal trip the end of next week is cause he got BlizzCon tickets this year. I decided to turn his 2 days into an 8 day family vacation. I'm not going to BlizzCon though.

Thank god they don't do a European Blizzcon or I would for sure be dragged to it. I don't mind playing the game a few hours a week but being in a convention center full of WOW players might be a bit too much.

Just started to update. 5,29 BG for a PATCH is quite a bit. I've bought complete games recently smaller than that.

Blizzard is a brilliant company and they've made some of the best RTS and RPG games ever, including those based around WarCraft lore (even though the whole thing was stolen from WarHammer)

As for World of Warcraft - what Blizzard finally realized is

1. We are an amazing video game company with a lot of money
2. Making amazing games for "gamers" (1% of population) wouldn't be nearly as profitable as making shitty games for "everyone else" (99%) of population.

Then comes WoW - the game that was made for you to waste as much time as you possibly can on, without actually utilizing any kind of skill or coordination.

These games reward people that spend as much time as they possibly can on it, as opposed to how skillful they actually are. MMORPG's are fun in theory, but the ones like WoW are simply created as a drug/time killer to make you waste as much time and money on as possible - anyway - that was my deduction 5-6 years ago when I played the beta for a few weeks before never playing it again.

Blizzard has made hundreds of millions (maybe billions?) vs. the measily multi-millions they made previously by creating a game for retards :thumbsup (the world is full of retards)

You can't make a game and then force MILLIONS of people to play it. People choose what to play and they do it for a reason. Blizzard is a company. The more money you can make the better you run your company. They are making a KILLING because the product is good.

If you can't see the incredible smart concept in making people pay to play every single month you really shouldn't be in the adult industry.

I haven't played in over 2 years. Still get the JONES from time to time.... Don't want to get addicted again :(

The beauty of WoW is that it works for both types of players. If you are like me and you casually play it with your friends, you can check it out periodically and have fun playing it. They have modified how you get gear so it is easy for casual players to get some decent stuff and do some of the bigger dungeons. However, if you are more hardcore they still have higher level, harder content for you to do. These bigger, harder raids require strategy and skill on the players behalf. Those who want to put in the time and want to learn every little nuance of their character can do so and for it they get the best of the best rewards.

I am by no means a hardcore gamer. I only own a few games for my computer and have no game consoles, but from what I have seen WoW is no different than any other game when it comes to skill required to play it well. Here is an example. Every year the night before the Super Bowl my friends and I get together and eat, hang out and play video games. My buddy's son kicks our asses at Halo every year. He can take on three of us at a time and destroy us. We suck at the game and openly admit it. Part of the reason he is so good is that he has every map memorized. He knows were all the weapons spawn and how to exploit every map to his advantage. Add in that he knows the best ways to fire the weapons and it is a one sided affair. But it is no different than a guy who plays WoW all the time and knows every way to counter my offensive moves killing me in WoW or who knows how to use what spells and abilities at what times during fights with raid bosses.

Yeah, I am very much a casual player. My husband and some of our friends take is much more seriously. Which is great for them but I just can't do it like that. So, I mostly play because it has become a sort of chat room /club house for our real life friends. I am only level 78 and they all have multiple 80's.

though like all huge patches, lots of disconnects and long logins. Have probs with connections and graphics. But they'll get it worked out within the week.

same.. used to be at beginning when i started in a hardcore guild. Where it was "YOU HAD TO BE" in the game that night and on tim. Got fed up and left the game. Came back and now just casual and met a few cool people form it. So passes the time espcially when it's freezing outside in dead of winter

Downloaded, installed and trying to figure out how the fuck I am supposed to tank as a feral druid now. PVP is fun with all the bleed damage mastery gives me though.

Same here. when I first started playing it was before there were any expansions so you could only go to level 60. I got there and did the 5 and 10 man dungeons and had fun, but wanted to do some of the big stuff. So I joined a raiding guild and it was like getting a job. Back then some of those raids took 15-20 hours or longer to complete. If you didn't show up on time you could lose your spot the next time, there was all kinds of politics and crap. I stuck around long enough to see each raid instance once then left. I actually left the game for about a year then came back when the expansion came out and played a lot more casually. Now it is maybe like once a week for a few hours but between working on my sites, writing and girlfriend their isn't much time for WoWing :)

I don't play much anymore but I logged in after the patch to check it out.

Got on my Warrior, theres a few nice changes but getting spanked in BG's.

Logged on my arcane mage and HOLY SHIT, been dishing out 30k AB crits in BG's, gonna ride the OP train till we get nerfed.

Also arcane mages can now spam spell steal and remain at full mana so it's killer in group PVP, just sit back spam spellsteal on people getting heals and watch their whole group get cleared out in 10 seconds. So much for toning down dispels lol.

So if you have an 80 mage log in now and enjoy god mode while it lasts.

I haven't played WoW for about 1 and 1/2 to 2 years. It sure sucks away productivity when you play it every day.
