2 inch spider

Was spraying my backyard for insects and ants, and came across a 2 inch orb weaver.

Like this one.

I didn't get a pic of the one in my backyard because it was all curled up by the time I sprayed it with chemicals.

It wasn't doing it's job of getting the ants, so it was fired.

About two years ago I was bitten by a Black Widow. It was the worst 8 months of my life, with panic attacks, headaches, vomiting, couldn't sleep etc etc etc etc etc etc.

The Black Widow attacks the nervous system, and aparently your body needs that to correctly know if it's sick, or panicing, or needing to vomit etc etc etc.

it's the time of the year again ... spiders are finding their way back into comfy warm houses

I had an Orb living in my garage for months, it was so huge. Randomly seen it dead on the ground one night.

My cat loves pouncing on them and eating them

My cat was attacking something in the living room the other day and I went to see what it was. Damn clock spider! Biggest one I've ever seen - that thing had a leg span the size of my fist. Freaked me out because it was inside my house! I bashed it with a shoe and it exploded goo everywhere. I was cleaning it up for 20 minutes. I generally like spiders but it's a love/hate relationship.

I saw a story on CNN about a place in Colorado where there are a lot of tarantulas out running around. It is a mating year (apparently this only happens ever 5 years or something like that) so the male spiders are on the move looking for love. They have had to shut down construction sites because they were over run with them. Once walked out onto a football field in the middle of a high school game and they stopped the game until it finished crossing the field because nobody wanted to pick it up and move it.

Glad I don't live there.

When I was about 14, on a family holiday in Spain. My parents had a pool in a villa.. one evening my father was cleaning the filter & dropped the carton very fast, slamming it upside down on the patio. He grabbed a can of insect spray, a huge one, about 15inches of spray! After using the whole can, the pot continued moving inch by inch for a good 30minutes later! :o

The spider underneath must have been at least 5 maybe 6 inches in size with big fat hairy legs & bitey things... I didnt realise you coulld get tarantulas in spain, but you can get some mad animals out there!

A huge 6 inch centipede ran across the balcony & bit my dads foot, it become very swollen. I see a scorpion in a derelict building ground, as I walked with flip flops! SO lucky with that!
T
he worst were the funnel web spiders surrounding us as my mother said "Hey lets stop to pick those lemons & oranges" from a field. We stopped the car, went wondering in this field, picking lovely fresh fruit from the tree, before looking down & screaming out tits off & pegging it out of there!

Just to top it off, in the UK, there is hardly any dangerous animals. However, there is an adder. The only poisoness snake in our country. We were on a family walk in the woods, by an American airbase, my father was friends with most of the US guys there, Chicksands airbase, a few miles from us. We wondered & had fun. My mother was hiding behind some trees ahead of us, ready to jump out. When suddenly she jumped out herself sweating & panicking. Only a foot away, curled up, a diamond marked, adder. That gave my father & I a giggle considering she was hoping to freak us :)

<---- HATES spiders.

As stated earlier, if you don't like spiders stay away from Australia. Red Back, Funnel Web, Wolf Spiders, Huntsmen are just the tip of the iceberg... and then there are the snakes.

For serious... I was in the USMC and every foreign country you go to you get a safety briefing of dangerous shit in the area. Usually it's about an hour, two hours tops. Australia... two 4 hour sessions! Spiders, 8/10 most deadly snakes in the world, scorpions, the giant stinging tree (not even kidding).... crazy....

raven1083 10-14-2010 06:25 AM

eww!! i hate it

thickcash_amo 10-14-2010 06:45 AM

I HATE spiders!! I scream like a little girl! and on this nature trail that I jog on there are these HUGE banana spiders everywhere.....which in turn makes me run faster to get away from them.
