Best netbooks to buy.

I'm thinking of getting a new netbook because my laptop is a little to big to carry around.

Just wondering what are the best netbooks around these day. The best value for money would be good.

I really like my Toshiba NB-200, whatever the latest Toshiba is, is probably pretty slick. Only complaint I have is that the speakers are garbage. My Lenovo Ideapad has way better speakers, but is a total shitbox. Only downfall was those crap speakers though, but I usually wear a headset with the netbooks anyways...

Toshiba = Thumbs up
Lenovo = Thumbs down

No opinion on any others...

Thanks AJC. I was looking at the Eee pc 1005HA Seashell. Looks preety sweet, anyone know if this is a good netbook?

A year ago I was using an MSI Wind...can't remember the model number but I really liked it. You made a good choice on thinking about purchasing a netbook, they really come in handy.

I'll have a look at some of the msi wind netbooks. I was thinking of getting a samsung or asus though. I usually buy something that's the worst value for money, I wanna get a good netbook that will last me a while.

Are there anymore suggestions? Won't bump this again though I'll just read some boring reviews on a couple of my favorite netbooks so far and pick one.

I have the 1005HA. Advertised as 8.5 hours battery, I get about 6-7 depending on what I do.

I really like it, would definitely recommend it :thumbsup

asus eee pc seashell rocks

I had a gateway netbook loved it until I spilled a cup of water on it. lasted about 10 hours on a battery charge which I never could believe. I guess not having a cd helps.

I had one, returned it.. Couldn't figure out the point really. I hated typing with it.

I'd wait a few more weeks until the dual-core netbooks come out.

netbooks are very VERY slow. I just bought Lenovo Idea Pad V360-3 for my GF
it's pretty small and very powerfull with intel i3 quad core processor, fingerprint sensor, led lamp etc... and just for $800

$800 vs $300-$350 for a netbook. I think you fail to get the purpose of a netbook. Anyone buying a netbook to be a replacement for PC or notebook is a moron. The purpose of a netbook is so one can do e-mail and BASIC websurfing while not having to carry a large bulky laptop or have to use a something as small as a smartphone. And for that purpose a netbook does it's job just fine.

I have an Acer Aspire One for almost 2 years now, and I LOVE IT!!!

I bought the 9 cell 7900mAh battery upgrade off of ebay, and now get easily 7.5 hours use from a single charge (and yes I have a hard drive - first one had SSD and it was constantly hanging on me - getting the hard drive Windows XP flavor netbook solved any problems)

I have a triple boot set up with Window7, Windows XP (for my VirtualDJ), and Ubuntu Netbook Remix ...

I chose the Acer Aspire One, simply because they are the most popular netbook going, and compatibility means alot to me (aftermarket accessories etc)

I also have a slimline DVD-RW, and a Western Digital 250GB 2.5" external Hard drive to use as a digital wallet when downloading pics from my Canon Rebel Xti

I do not do any heavy resource-intensive tasks on the road, so having a 2 pound netbook as opposed to a full 8 pound laptop is very appealing to me!

My entire kit - with the netbook, wireless mouse, external DVD and hard drives, weighs a total of 3.5 pounds ... portability ROCKS!!!

ive got a dell netbook, its perfect for my needs. plus it fell on the floor 2 times and it still works.

MrBottomTooth 10-15-2010 04:49 AM

Just make sure whatever one you get doesn't come with Win7 starter. That is total crap. Make sure it has Home Premium or you will immediately be shelling out another $90 or whatever it costs to upgrade from starter.

I wold get myself MSI, Asus or Acer netbook with 11.6" or 12".

myneid 10-15-2010 10:54 AM

fuck netbooks. just get an ipad with a bluetooth keyboard.

madtwin 10-15-2010 02:20 PM

Acer Aspire One with custom Windows XP install

quiet 10-15-2010 02:52 PM

it's not really the same, but i recently got a macbook air via my airmiles, and it freaking rocks. full size keyboard, solidstate hd, fast, super tough, and *extremely* thin and light. so great for travel.

mafia_man 10-15-2010 03:31 PM

I've got a HP 311 it does crawl although I can upgrade the RAM to 3GB, it's got a decent screen on it and Nvidia ION GPU.

I only use it to do dev work on so it isn't running anything more than mysql, apache and java/python/ruby/php.

candyflip 10-15-2010 04:46 PM

When I'm not raping my own ass, I have two little Dells.

I installed OSX on both of them, but after installing the new Ubuntu 10.10 on one of them, I will be switching the other as well.

They are perfect for trips to the bathroom and we always have one in the diaper bag when we leave the house.

HomerSimpson 10-15-2010 06:16 PM

dell
small, mighty and colorful...
