Getting this a lot recently when opening a Google search from the Firefox toolbar (example). Usually when I try to type "define: word". Although "define word" works fine. Are they really having such a hard time recognizing that I'm sending a manual request and it's not automated? It's a pain in the ass since the page they display has no search bar or anything and completely halts any kind of forward progress from this crap. :Oh crap

The key position is 'your computer or network'

There is nothing wrong with being a bot :upsidedow

The SeoQuake firefox plugin can cause this, I had the same problem and it turned out to be seoquake

I've had this page come up on different computers in different houses and even different cities. I don't understand what the reason is for it, but it's really annoying when I'm just trying to look up something really quick. Also noticed that in IE it will give you a captcha to fill in and continue with but in FF it simply gives you the message and you have to figure out a different way to accomplish what you're trying to do.. +1 IE -1 FF :(

Never had that before and haven't installed any plugins in many months. Hell I haven't even updated FF in a while.

spyware on your computer could cause that too :2 cents:

I only see that message when I use a proxy... You using a proxy?

loreen 10-16-2010 10:51 PM

I only see that when I, indeed, use some kind of bot / automation tool.

XX_RydeR 10-17-2010 12:00 AM

Jakez,

Yeah I have had that when I have had to use a proxy also. Not any other time though.

Yeah, DREAMHOST SUCKS.

*moving hosts at the moment

Litzer 10-17-2010 01:19 AM

Agreed. I used Dreamhost a few years ago and found them to very very unprofessional.

Angry Jew Cat - Banned for Life 10-17-2010 01:24 AM

probably spyware

CYF 10-17-2010 02:16 AM

Google does that sometimes if you search for something similar to what the bots do.

Davy 10-17-2010 02:40 AM

Got that a couple of times, too. It goes away after a while, though.
