The release of these classified military documents is a real disgrace for the US. It shows that we are growing too weak to defend ourselves from our enemies. That cocksucker Julian Assange should be in a bodybag by now. :disgust

On a related note, for all we know, much of the "leaked" documents may have been intentionally provided to Wikileaks by the U.S. government itself.

There are differing degrees of document classification - are any of the documents "leaked" of the highest classifications of "secret" and "top secret"? I'd wager not...

Anyways, do the documents truly contain much significant information that isn't already known / findable elsewhere?

Don't get me wrong, it's great there are sites like Wikileaks, but am skeptical of the information they're posting / motivations of those who "leak" the info to Wikileaks.

For example, according to a news media report, one of the documents contains info about the "hikers" being held in Iran when captured were on the Iraq side of the border ... ok, but that was already widely publicized in the media months ago ... what wasn't mentioned is why the "hikers" were there to begin with ... are they spies? Or what?

Point is if many of the other documents are like that one, simply mentioning details that were already widely known, then there's likely little to no real new information to be discovered.

I hear a lot of critique about the war but what did all the same people do in the period 1979-2003 to help and protect the Iraqi people? And how much did they accomplish?
Weapons of mass destruction or not.. a ruthless dictator is gone which is good.
The sad thing is these people with their religion still live in The Middle Ages and were not prepared for a democracy. Hopefully they will one day experience it though.

The real question (with obvious answer) is what the fuck the US are doing in other countries and with what justification they do it.

It's not a competition. Saddam Hussein got what he deserved but that's not an excuse for western soldiers to torture, murder and rape innocent women and children.

No doubt he should have been removed many years ago. Unfortunate they didn't do it already in the Gulf War 1990/91.
I agree it is a disgrace that not only the US but also the rest of the world have been as passive as they have towards regimes like Saddam's. Different things were tried but let's face it, without the Iraq War he would still be there with even more blood on his hands.
