Football: #1 in both Offense and Defense (in yards) and Chargers are 2-5...wtf?!

If this season keeps going the way it has thus far, this has to go down as one of the most bizarre seasons ever for a team. They are finding some highly unique ways to lose, sometimes having to find like 2 or 3 unique ways to lose in order to barely lose a game (like vs. the Patriots this week). Just crazy stuff...they're going to lose a lot of fans really quick if they keep this up. :(

Okay, translated to the best of my ability: "The Chargers average more yards in total offense per game than any other team in the NFL. They also average fewer yards allowed per game than any other team in the NFL. On average they have 178.4 more yards of total offense than their opponents each game. They have won only 2 games and lost 5 games. What the fuck?!"

Is there anything else I can do for you Uncle Lewis?

xxweekxx 10-25-2010 06:19 PM

their last game was comical.. did u see their fucking stupid mistakes

davecummings 10-25-2010 06:23 PM

It's all about Charger turn-overs that have resulted in scoring by the other team:-(.

It is discouraging for us San Diegans to keep the faith!!

Aha! You had me confused, you said football and not handegg.
It seemed gibberish to me as in football terms it comes across as ..
Football: The goalkeepers in both home and away (in yards) and the away team are 2-5 up ... What the fuck?! :D

dyna mo 10-25-2010 06:25 PM

typical chargers-

dominating everywhere but in the win column.

I do think they got slightly robbed on the "lateral" call but either way, fucking idiot receiver just watches the ball on the ground without whistle blown, and the other receiver setting the ball down also without whistle blown was an even bigger idiot. Can't wait for the headline: "This just in, Phillip Rivers murders half of San Diego Chargers in locker room after embarrassing loss." Given he gets fired up about shit, he has to be the most angry person in the world after this shit.

Seems odd that you'd be confused. I mean this is an American based forum, hosted in America, owned by an American company and started by Americans. You can rest assured that when people speak of football, they don't mean Soccer.

Sorry, should have put NFL instead of football. At least hopefully I've explained it. The "football" equivalent would be something like a team consistently dominating possession of the ball and/or shots on goal over their opponents but losing over shitty plays like England's goalie vs. the US in the world cup.

Though he is doing great (of course, because he's not on the Chargers anymore, lol), our worst mistake was trading Michael Turner...we could have kept Turner, traded LT at the peak of his worth and made out like bandits. AJ probably had Emmitt Smith on the brain thinking LT would be super productive into his mid-late 30s and that's extremely rare/unlikely. I do hope he continues to kick ass...he's a cool guy and deserves his success, but I just think we could have been better off getting something for him vs. letting him go. They let the same thing happen with Brees too.

could be, but don't forget, they had an offensive strategy that did not emphasis LT for 2 seasons prior to trading him.

True, but it seemed evident in the running plays he was a part of that he lost some of his quickness and ability to dodge tackles and change direction smoothly. In his prime it was like plays that other RB's would only get a couple yards out of, he'd get 5-7 with breaking tackles or finding another route if a gap closed or something. It's hard to tell what had come first, them featuring him less or his performance going downhill. Norv does seem to be more of a passing offense kind of guy thus far looking at things so who knows - maybe he was just calling shitty running plays and that ultimately wore down LT. I guess it doesn't help too that teams are figuring out Sproles...he's not that invisible little guy anymore.

It's sad though, with our passing game it's not like we are in dire need of the running game working out anyways. Even if Mathews had a marginal year, we should have been a shoo-in 10-6 at least.

yeah, i hear ya. it occurred to me this weekend that perhaps rivers is having issues due to not having LT around to take some of the D's attention away from the passing game. i'm not basing that on anything though, just trying to figure out wtf their problem is. i know they always start off slow, but something is certainly missing this year.

I cannot argue with that, The whole game was embarrassing. It would be the equivilant to the american national basketball team drawing with a team of Congo pigmies.

kane 10-25-2010 08:54 PM

I will sum up their problem in two words.

Norv Turner.
