How is this Affiliate Program.

After doing a search I noticed that there was a lot of rage towards them, so I did not put their name in the title to try and avoid some raging. However I'm interested in current opinions of Skinvideo and their affiliate program. Can anyone be somewhat sensible, not angry, and bring any relevent facts about their current site to my attention? Thanks a bunch.

P.S. I've spoken with their affiliate manager by e-mail and she does seem like a nice lady, though obviously the more opinions I have the better.

Kathleen is a nice lady and she's done me some good turns. A good affiliate manager to work with.

A long time ago SkinVideo had a different name and a different business model. As far as I can tell, a lot of the hate stems from that era. That's all I care to say about that.

Business-wise, I've done business with SkinVideo for a lot of years and they've always been square with me. However, their current product offering (essentially a legal paid tube with licensed content that surfers need to subscribe to in order to see) does not convert very well for me. They have also added a clause to their terms and conditions at some point:

Quote:

4.1 SkinVideo will pay Commissions only so long as the Affiliate remains active, which means that the Affiliate, during any Pay Period (defined below), registers at least ten percent of the Subscribers that the Affiliate registered in the immediately preceding Pay Period.
That may sound reasonable until you consider what it means for the fundamental revshare deal. No matter how much traffic you send them, if they fail to make a conversion on your traffic in one pay period, that zero-conversions period will automatically classify you as inactive (because zero is less than ten percent of any whole number) and all your rebills are gone. Even if they are fairly trying to convert all traffic (and I have no reason to doubt they are) it's brutal to smaller affiliates, because a single period with no sales gets you flagged as inactive and kills any rebills you might ever have built up. It's basically impossible to build up revenue from a low traffic base under that term.

For this reason alone, I cannot recommend SkinVideo to prospective affiliates.
