Anyone ever juiced a pomegranate?

If so, how did it go? Did you have to scoop all the seeds out into the juicer first?

Funny you ask, I'm just eating one.

To answer your question, yes, you get all the seeds out and juice them.
Pomegranate muffins are also great :)

I had a tree at my first house. I hated them but the kids in the neighborhood loved them, so I gave them out for Halloween. I had a very popular Halloween house.

I was considering trying them in my juicer . . . just not sure if it will be worth the effort.

Yep, as painfull as it is, you need to get the seeds out otherwise the white pith with taint the taste.
Cut the fruit in half and tap the back of it with a rolling pin. A lot, but not all of the seeds will come out. It is a bit messy though.

Which is why I never got into them as a fruit in the first place . . . oh well, should be easier than peeling kiwi anyway.

How much will the pith mess with it if there are a bunch of other fruits and veggies with it, would you think?

Funny, I was just eating a pomegranate

i have a juice bar near my house - juicing my own fruit just seems too time consuming.

Aw shit
well what the video says it to cut open the pomagrante and then put open end in the palm of your hand, then smack the other end with a wooden spoon, all the seeds come out that was, it's pretty easy

In the time it would take you to drive/walk/skateboard to the juice bar I can already be sipping on a concoction. It has never taken even 5 minutes to whip something up.

Right now: cauliflower, cucumber, asparagus, peach and kiwi.

Took about a minute to peel the kiwi and less than a minute to get the pit out of the peach. Took maybe three minutes to do the actual juicing.

brassmonkey 10-26-2010 08:22 PM

It was a long and painful process. And in the end it turned out that it was far from ripe so it tasted like :error

You'd probably have to use a press rather than a juicer, like with grapes.
because if you mash the seeds it will be bitter.

A jelly is a good idea though, as you can use heat to separate the seeds from the flesh, then pass it through a sieve.
