matt cutts is know for his bullshit blog throwing off people in different directions...

see how he says about a 1994 reg date domain - "typically" you shouldn't worry about it - but when you are trying to compete for a high rank keyword, this will make the difference between placement #3 and placement #21

For a high rank keyword yes, but not for an everyday shitty blog which goes for a 200 searches/day keyword. I think he just mentions that many people are over-worried about the domain age..

I agree with what he said in general, but aged domains help you in building seo networks.

Use a new domain and point 100+ links to quickly it and it will be either sandboxed or penalized, which is not the case with 5-10+ years older domains.

Speaking of which, I have some aged domains for sale - http://www.gfy.com/sell-and-buy-forum/992771-1993-2000-aged-domains-pr-traffic-backlinks-bargain-prices.html

just make quality content and the rest will take care of itself. no seo needed. thanks for the infos, matt.

there's news in there somewhere? i always thought the age of the page was based on when it was first indexed, as opposed to actual registration date. Then again, if you have a 1994 domain it has probably been indexed since the beginning of Google time in the first place.

Cyber Fucker 10-27-2010 07:42 AM

Nothing new. :)

pornguy 10-27-2010 07:42 AM

So google claims to have the very best search results being the most accurate.. Do you really think they are going to give away the answers on how to manipulate that?

not as much as you

Makes sense to get age of domain based on when it was first crawled or linked to.

That is good info to know if you buy expired domains. Because all the dates are reset. But the SE stats for the domain are still there.

First time i listened to Matt explain something. He sure has the art of talking about something specific covered up in the most general of maybe-est of terms. He should run for political office he has the lingo down..Laughing!!
