Russia, NATO Plan Joint Afghan War Initiative

Russia could play a new role in Afghanistan under plans being drawn up between NATO and Moscow -- more than two decades after Soviet troops were forced into a bloody retreat from the country.

Among a range of proposals under consideration Wednesday was the possibility of Russia lending military helicopters to the Afghan Army, training Afghan pilots in Russia and enabling more NATO convoys -- including those with lethal cargo -- to pass across its territory. The plan could also extend to Russia training Afghan security forces outside the country in counternarcotics techniques.

"gee general.. how can we ever turn the afghan people against us more than they are now? you know.. to make this an even bigger clusterfuck than it already was?"

"oh I know.. let's invite the filthy imperialists that are extremely hated and were already defeated and by the afghan people"

IllTestYourGirls 10-27-2010 07:12 AM

Yup, that sounds like NATO to me, might was well spit in the Afghan peoples face and take a dump on their wife's face.

Don't look now but because of what is effectively a global economic collapse, I think we are seeing a return to both imperialism and colonialism which is without historic compare.

I know you don't like Fox News but you're cutting off the head of the messenger. The story is true and can be found here:

"As Russian troops prepare to return to Afghanistan in landmark agreement, Gorbachev warns Nato victory is impossible

* Moscow agrees to help train Afghan army
* Russia to supply Nato with helicopters
* Watershed agreement to be announced at next month's Nato summit
* Gorbachev warns America of Afghanistan turning into another Vietnam

Russia is set to return to the war in Afghanistan 21 years after its forces were driven out of the country.

Moscow has agreed to help train the Afghan army and anti-narcotics troops - at the request of the same Western countries who helped remove Russia from the country in the late 1980s.

But Mikhail Gorbachev today warned Nato that victory in Afghanistan is 'impossible'.

The former leader of the Soviet Union, who pulled Russian troops out of Afghanistan in 1989, said President Barack Obama is right to start withdrawing U.S. forces from the country next year.

No, Russia needs to get a possibility to burn the poppy plantations which grown more than in 10 times during the US occupation under support of corrupted Afghan government and the US military command. That's why Russia needs its helicopters with local pilots, trained in Russia and controlled by Russian ministry of defense.

Nothing new actually :2 cents:

Russian troops DO NOT PREPARE to return into Afghanistan. This is another bullshit from the UK "newspaper" - the hand-reared American poodle. It has nothing common with the real truth which sounds like this:

"Moscow has agreed to help train the Afghan army and anti-narcotics troops - at the request of the same Western countries who helped remove Russia from the country in the late 1980s."

Everything else about "returning of Russian troops into Afghanistan" is just a sick imagination of some FOX or Independent idiot. :2 cents:

Russia will never do that again. Nothing to gain, nothing to win. The have been very explicit about this.

cykoe6 10-27-2010 08:02 AM

Sounds like good news to me if it works out.
