Texas Mile event: Lambo crashes at 230+ mph

I don't know if anyone on here is into cars or follows some of the events held yearly but here in Texas there is a mile event that takes place. The goal is fastest mph per class from a dead stop to the 1 mile mark and each year the bar gets raised. This past weekend there was a pretty bad wreck at the event.

This is an twin turbo orange Gallardo Superlaggera (1500+ hp) belonging to Richard Holt that crashed at the end of the run. The guy is ok but the car is a total loss is a total loss obviously. The safety equipment did it's job!

Here it is in March of this year passing the mile mark at 250mph.

Amazing he survived. The car was reinforced, lifesaver.

I'm trying to figure out why the car did that. It's rare to see something like that happen as a result from pulling a chute so I wonder if it was wiggling before he pulled it?

From the 2nd video he was saying it was wiggling a lot when he let off and got on the brakes, so I wonder if it was that plus the force from the chute opening that caused it to wreck?

Either way, that had to have scared the shit out of him and I bet he was sore the next day.

Looked to me like it was an issue with the chute. when it deployed the back end started to slide.

I thought so too until I watched the video of his non-crashing passes and he was commenting on how it was getting squirrely. Then again if a chute isn't set up right it will cause problems, but if they were smart enough to set up a 1500hp car I would assume they'd know how to set up a parachute.
