I was born in SF, so there was a natural allegiance. When I was a kid, the Dodgers had pitchers like Koufax, Drysdale, Osteen. They had Wills, Roseboro, Parker, Davis. They could be up by 5 runs in the 9th and lose to the Mets. They lost me as a fan after I realized they lost every game I ever went to.

When we played neighborhood, one-on-one or two-on-two games I was always the Giants.

Marichal, Perry, McCovey, Mays, Alou . . .

As I have gotten older I have accepted them more and I will root for them if at the park . . . unless they are playing the Giants.

The rise of the Giants coincided with the departure of Barry Bonds, and the hiring of Bruce Bochy as Manager.
