Tjeezers 11-01-2010 04:45 AM

Today I will hold my son in my arms

He is born on 22 October, c-section.
Mother and son had to stay 10 days in hospital, and I had to miss them very much, life was and is not the same without your partner.

Today is a joyful day, next to my wedding day this day is going to be one of the happiest days in my life. I am very nervous, but looking forward to it. They are coming home!

In this country various traditional things are tide to this Coming Home thing. She will have her parents, and spiritual parents and my son her God Parents with her when she arrives here. They will do some ceremonial blessings to make sure our son is protected from bad influences. ( like a lazy father :winkwink: )
And then they will put him in his sleeping clothes, a set of clothes they blessed last week. All these things should help my son in some way they claim. I am more a simple minded thinker and mumbled in myself something about " Lets hope i dont get charge backs this year and the years to come "

Anyway, in the last 10 days I was not myself. But the neighborhood acted very supportive. Food was brought every day, fresh prepared warm ready to eat. Every one was chipping in, and I tried to stop them. But they did not take a NO for an answer. I asked my wife why they came to bring food every day, she said she called them all up and asked them to make sure i would eat

Thats true love right?

Well, i had to share with ya all this little moment of joy. In a few hours I tuck my son into his bed and tell him his first bed time story

Congratulations and best wishes to you and your family.

Your lives will never be the same, especially your sleeping habits, but it will be worth it many times over as I am sure you already know.

This is my first child, and I am pretty new in this, but I am a light sleeper and have no problems waking up when my son needs me. I hope mom will get more rest since she is soon at home and I can support her. I am very good with kids, 17 years ago I had a work project with new born babies, and I learned the basics there a little. I hope they come in handy

WOW, congratulations to you also! Here they keep mom and son 4-5 days after C-section normally, but our son was 1 week to early, so they did not take any risks, i was not even permitted to hold him in my arms, risk for bacterias and stuff. I understood, but felt bad. Again congratulations to your partner, and best wishes for your family

I moved to South Romania, bought a old farm there, and renovated it. I am in a very peaceful valley where social interaction is very needed, there is nothing here like in the cities, so people depend on each other. When you fuck up here, you can better move away, cause life is not so generous anymore.
My wife is a doctor and since we moved to here she is helping people here for free. I think she is for some people very important in a professional way, and I encouraged my wife to stay social and not commercial.

That she can call up everyone and pass on a wish list is something that is new to me. But i think she knows how to socialize better then I do.
I am just a simple minded worker with a limited imagination for social live.

On the other hand, when someone dies here in this valley, we all suffer as a group/community and say good bey on a traditional way. A long ceremonial dinner, a parade in the street with music and the deceased person on the back of a car saying good bey to the whole valley.

Everyone knows everyone here. A social network tighter then Facebook

I can write a book soon about living here. So much more different then Good Old Holland.

Thanks again everyone for the wishes!

Yes yes, you are right
In this modern world i do have more options to create longer lasting memories then 50 years ago. I`ll snap a lot of pictures and make sure when he is old enough, he can see himself grow up also.

Thank you, health is very important indeed. Last months I only wished for health cause I suddenly realized the importance much more. When it is regarding your first born child, you`ll do anything to make sure he gets healthy. I stopped smoking since my wife was pregnant just to make sure i would not make little mistakes here and there that add up to a bigger mistake.

Thanks, yes, Eastern EU traditions indeed, they value traditions very much, it is something they keep alive and it has a lot of positive points. When you life in a valley like here you suddenly see that traditional way of life is the best way to go.

Thanks OP, well, I understand your point, I was having this in Holland also. my neighbors could not give a fuck about anyone but themselves. In the more developed countries traditions made place for capitalism and greed. I am sure when you are living here, and you tell your neighbor you have no food, they invite you for dinner. Of course, you can always fix a roof, chop some wood, clean a garden...
Here we exchange sometimes things between each other and keep the cooperate world out of this valley.

Yes, this is the case. I have worked years for this moment, made it like this that I can ENJOY every single breath he takes without having to worry direct about anything. He just had his first Bath And enjoyed it very much.

He is so small and cute, it is a true miracle!
