PC or Mac? Poll

Which one do you use?

2intense 11-01-2010 07:02 AM

PC (windows) :winkwink:

candyflip 11-01-2010 07:03 AM

What about Linux?

I acutally use both Mac and Windows in my workflow.

AaronM 11-01-2010 07:05 AM

Where's the option for both? Guess I'll just vote 1 for each.

StinkyPink 11-01-2010 07:07 AM

I use PC but would prefer Mac. Everyone says Macs are expensive, but it would cost more to build a PC to run equal to a Mac, IMO. However I believe it is the software not the hardware. Windows blows.

Jason Voorhees 11-01-2010 07:12 AM

All 3, but prefer Mac OS X over Windows and Linux.

3xTom 11-01-2010 07:15 AM

Gotta go with the Mac

Amputate Your Head 11-01-2010 07:16 AM

mac, of course.

sojproductions 11-01-2010 07:28 AM

both! I like to test pages thoroughly on both platforms, but generally most work is undertaken on the PC, used to it now...

Cyber Fucker 11-01-2010 07:48 AM

PC :pimp

Chris 11-01-2010 07:53 AM

Plus 1

I prefer using my iMac, but still have a windows notebook for odds and ends... Interestingly enough though, I have Win 7 Ultimate installed on the iMac via bootcamp...

Cant remember the last time I booted into it though. :)

I think I was afraid of not having Windows when I got the mac, but after a month and a half, I forgot all about the Win 7 Install LOL

czarina 11-01-2010 08:10 AM

for some reason I just dont like Macs. Love their monitors, but dont like their computers or OS.

woj 11-01-2010 08:17 AM

PC :thumbsup

Horny Dude 11-01-2010 08:34 AM

Bump for another PC user.

Chosen 11-01-2010 09:25 AM

PC with Windows :)

just a punk 11-01-2010 10:20 AM

Mac is just a regular PC brand like ASUS, or Dell (the same hardware inside). So the question is incorrect. As about the operating system, so of course it's Windows.

GTS Mark 11-01-2010 10:21 AM

Mac all the way!

2MuchMark 11-01-2010 11:26 AM

Mac woooooooooooooooooooooooot !!!!!!

mineistaken 11-01-2010 11:36 AM

Don't like overpaying for brand sticker on the computer, like paying only for computer it self. Yes, PC.

candyflip 11-01-2010 11:39 AM

When I first started posting here, there were only a handful of us using Mac hardware.

At the time I had my Power Mac and one of the first iMacs.

I gave mine to a little cousin who still uses it to this day. I don't know how, it's slow as hell...but she does.

AzteK 11-01-2010 11:51 AM

If you're actually doing business and not playing with pictures and sound waves then, Windows, ESPECIALLY in a networked environment.

AzteK 11-01-2010 11:52 AM

one more thing, MAC's are for people that don't know any better and steve does a good job at showing you that...it's ok don't get mad.

quiet 11-01-2010 11:56 AM

well, i made millions of dollars using nothing but freebsd on the servers, and nothing but mac for the entire office. but i don't have anything against windows either, just never needed to use that os.

fris 11-01-2010 11:59 AM

ok, i admit it, mine is a VIC 20 for biz and a TRS 80 for gaming.

WebairDanny 11-01-2010 12:02 PM

I use both but if it were up to me I'd make a full conversion to Mac.

Shoplifter 11-01-2010 12:11 PM

I did buy a couple of Mac's a few years ago.

But the magic has worn off...When I went to price a new 17" Macbook I found it would be more than $3k to get what I could get in Win7 for $1500. That's i7 CPU and 8 gigs of RAM.

The Iphone is unbeatable tho..

Zorgman 11-01-2010 10:22 PM

I've walked into the Apple store so many times looking at the 27-Inch iMac and it's very nice. My only issue is, how long will it take me to learn or get use to the mac if I swap from Windows.

Danielle 11-01-2010 10:31 PM

Linux for business, surfing and email.

Mac for video editing.

Windows for games.

it's Mac, not MAC. It's not an acronym. Also I've worked with unix for 15+ years and also dabble with graphics and web design and I prefer the Mac. Lots of software developers do, too.

Linguist 11-01-2010 10:47 PM

Two years ago I would have said a Mac. I still have and love my 2007 Core2Duo Macbook.

And hey, this is 2010, 3.5 years later.

GUESS WHAT THEY ARE STILL SELLING IN THEIR MACBOOK LINEUP
That's right - the same core2duo that must be cheap as hell for them by now and are 2 years too old.

I'd buy a Macbook pro 13" in a heartbeat if it came in core i7. 15" is too large for me.

And their towers are a ripoff. My GF just built a PC that, configured exactly (and with a superior video card because Mac doesn't support cuda video rendering), comes out to $9k as a Mac tower. Her cost? Just under $3k with some deals on parts.

So, whenever a core 13" i7 macbook pro comes out I'll get that and for now Steve Jobs can suck me. I've given him enough money already.

Though I might just go with an i7 Windows for a main workhorse and get one of the new Airs for the super portable option. Those are quite sexy all things considered.

Sid70 11-01-2010 10:50 PM

both of em, but will switch to Mac once this HP laptop is dead or sold.

epitome 11-01-2010 11:33 PM

I just bought a new Windows notebook on Saturday.

The last two or three times I've bought a computer I've always said "I'm going with a mac next time" yet here I am still with Windows.

NETbilling 11-01-2010 11:47 PM

The Mac OS is far superior to Windows IMO

sandman! 11-02-2010 12:56 AM

hell no you spend $300-$1000 for the exact same shit with a mac anyone that says otherwise is an idiot.

If the mac os is worth the extra $$$ then sure go get one.

Got my first mac this year purely as a test machine, don't use it for anything other than testing browser compatibility though. Decentish iMac. Still PC 99.9% of the way.

Deputy Chief Command 11-02-2010 01:29 AM

I have a LG laptop with windows vista ):

Emil 11-02-2010 02:09 AM

Fuck me, that's a very expensive way to do what http://browsershots.org/ does.

Jimmy Sinclair 11-02-2010 03:41 AM

I use Mac to do most of my workload. But I do have a pc laptop to make sure all my work is correct, and that all my websites look correct. I found that editing photos and video is so much easier on a mac. I know of other webmasters that swear by the pc, but I must say I am a mac girl. To each his own ;)

Barbi
