paysite owners? step in, seriously - things to think about...
I won't add another post about how shitty things are in sales/ conversions/ how people believe the affiliate model is dead/ tubes rule and destroy it all..
Ever took a minute to re-review your join page? Everyone is so busy modifying/adding/creating tours/encoding great video trailers and writing JUST THE right text and more only to follow up with a shitty join page. DUDE! This is where you ask for money!? I'm not going to tell you how to run your business - but DO NOT forget about the most obvious places to increase your bottom line... REVIEW YOUR JOIN PAGE - WOULD YOU BUY FROM IT? Thats my :2 cents: |
I've been doing that since the beginning of time.

Simple is god! User/pass/email and join options does the best. Normally a centered form on a black background has the most submits. Sometimes all button forms do well on amateur style sites.
Too simple can kill it - so it must follow the site flow, some what. No taller than 250px high header. All text (other than header) above the fold should be related to the transaction.. ie: secure, private, instant, fill out form - bam! Don't let them have wondering eyes - that pulls away from the form, thus lower submits. If you put a back button up, more people go back... so drop the menus and make them use the back button. This also has a bonus, you can force fire a popup on exit if you know they have to hit the back button. Put the promo shit and porn at the bottom, drop videos, flash, or anything that takes more than a split second to load. Incentives work! Bonus sites, bonus time, rewards for longer access purchases, time limits work as well. DON'T LINK THEM! Use a heat map to see where people go. Move the thumbs/text around to focus the clicks towards the form. That means the eyes are drawn towards it as well. That's about all I got... |

:thumbsup to business related threads
I agree that alot of people need to spend more time on their join pages, however im a firm believer every paysite needs to spend more time on their whole entire product (design, content, you name it). Keep the ideas for improving the join page coming! |
Feel free to checkout www.amateurcanada.com/index.shtml - we redid our join page and it converts well over a more static version - its a bit glitzed up - I do agree TheDoc in elimination links to anywhere else - its time to buy not browse more areas of your site :D I would add in some nice eye candy.

Can I add the obvious that buttons should be green or red. Red is the most clicked on and green is second in line, but is associated with "go ahead" Also use F pattern reading of websites to your advantage. The header is the first line of the F, your simple signup should be the second. Followed by huge red or green button. Also breaking down the sign-up into smaller chunks helps, so first personal details, then click, etc. |
If you ask me, no pictures AT ALL on the join page, the only purpose of a join page is to fill in the form, not look at pictures / divert attention.
Other then the form, there should be assurances that the transaction will be quick secure and discreet. Thats all. |
nice :thumbsup
