Super Size me.

Saw a DVD last night about a guy who for a month ate nothing but MacDonalds. The changes he went through both physically and mentally. The attitudes of many to fast food, especially how it's marketed to children, Super Sizing and the effects of obesity on the American society.

Over all very scary.

Super Size me.

great film...
also spawned a great series called 30 days.

Paul Markham 11-08-2010 05:23 AM

I found it really scary. I hate fast food burgers. Tasteless except for the sauce or mayonnaise and an insult to real burgers.

I do like the shakes and apple pies though. But only have them once a month. And use to like the Breakfast Muffins. Banned our daughter from eating fast food burgers more than once a month. I get pissed off the way they market to her by giving away cheap toys with the kids meals. Haven't told her, fortunately she enjoys Chinese food more than burgers.

haha old people are funny. There's this super new tv show called the sopranos, you should check it out before everyone else sees it.

There's another new one called Cheers that's good too :upsidedow

I honestly don't know how he managed a whole month though. I couldn't eat only McDonald's food for a whole day.

Last time I brought home 4 big macs as I had coupons for "buy one get one free". So I went to two McD's to get them. Thought I was saving money.

So basicly had nothing to eat but two big macs the first day. Next day woke up and felt so nauseated threw the other two out. And I am pretty hardy. So that's the end of McD's for me.

There is virtually no vites/mins in that stuff. You might as well eat cardboard.

So I lasted one day in my McD's experiment. You can eat it but you have to eat other stuff too.

Super High Me is better....

goodsites 11-08-2010 06:06 AM

You people are seriously wacked...

Have you ever done diagnostics on real restaurant food? You want to know how much SUGAR, BUTTER, LARD, and calories is in that shit? Try even more.. No your not suppose to shove 2 big macs a large fry and an applie pie down your throat 3 days a week, dont blame them for making a convienence you fell victim for.. Thank them.

When we grew up McDonalds was a fucking one or two times a month treat... Now you fuckers flock there every morning, shoving sausages down your throat, head back for lunch and top it off with 72 oz's of Coke, and then sue them for selling the shit

And this is nothig but a make of money, there is already a guy who for his whole life eats 2 big macs per day for like years now.. he can't eat anything else.. He's fine

You know, I gotta agree with you on that one. When I was a kid, we only got fast food once or maybe twice a month if we were lucky. Nowadays, it's much different. I know my kids eat fast food at least once a week, not just McDonalds, but other places like Taco Bell or KFC. Maybe we've just turned into a lazy society where we all want the easiest path.

nico-t 11-08-2010 06:28 AM

mickey d's is gross, but the 'specials' they have are really tasty... the mckroket is now part of the standard menu for years here, and the really tasty new chicken sate will also be added to the standard menu!

mckroket:

chicken sate:

Their default 'global' products like the big mac and big tasty are fucking gross.

No, you've BEEN turned into a society where you have little option but to buy what you are told to buy.

A head of broccoli costing 3 times as much as a happy meal is "fucked up"*

I recommend watching Food, Inc.

It's slightly more recent that Old Man Markham's latest discovery.

google video links is broken for me.,

anyways i m not a mcd type, i mall about kfc and burger king.

mchacal 04-05-2011 01:50 PM

I understand people taking McDonalds once in a while, it's so cheap here you can have a meal for 4$

What I don't understand is people eating McDonalds in the rest of the world. Way more expensive than real food and the worst is that I believe the go there just for the American fashion. Damn stupid people willing to eat McDonald's cardboard patties to look cool.

mchacal 04-05-2011 01:55 PM

This:

http://www.soloenvenezuela.com/wp-co...amburguesa.jpg

is cheaper than this:

L-Pink 04-05-2011 02:01 PM

When i was a kid McDonalds was a once or twice a month treat. Restaurants were a place my parents went when they could find a gullible babysitter, again once or twice a month.

We didn't eat out because mom was to lazy or preoccupied to cook.

.

dyna mo 04-05-2011 02:03 PM

that movie was fucking stupid and more about overeating than mcdonald's.

i should do a movie where i eat sensibly at mcdonald's for 30 days and show everyone i'm just fucking fine.

dyna mo 04-05-2011 02:43 PM

spurlock gained 24.5 pounds over the 30 day *experiment* that means he had to eat AT LEAST 3000 calories more than he should every day. for an ave size male like him, his total daily required cals is ~2100.

he ate 3x more than he should of every day.

bullshit movie in the spirit of a michael moore *expose*

and all the complications? more bullshit. heart palpitations, etc?/ lolz

billywatson 04-05-2011 03:01 PM

Watch the out takes...especially the one where they put various Micky D sandwiches in different jars...along with a hamburger in a jar that has no preservatives.

It's unreal.

dyna mo 04-05-2011 03:12 PM

typical american attitude- it's not my fault i'm fat- it's mcdonald's fault.

Dr. Ruth Kava, Director of Nutrition at the American Council on Science and Health (ASCH) says:

"As a professional nutritionist, I think this movie does a disservice to the American people. Obesity is a serious issue in this country and the movie is not a serious attempt to answer it. It misleads people into thinking that eating a particular type of food or at a particular restaurant is the cause for a weight problem. That certainly is not the case."

$5 submissions 04-05-2011 03:15 PM

Check out youtube videos of what eating a burger does to your blood...

You'd be shocked--your blood's fat content shoots up and your blood actually separates between yellow fat and blood. Imagine that stuff lining your arteries :(

dyna mo 04-05-2011 03:21 PM

heart diseases and other modern maladies have everything to do with caloric excess and much less to do with dietary fat or any other macronutrient

thickcash_amo 04-05-2011 04:38 PM

I watched that a while back....kinda bad what they serve as "food" in public schools

Total bullshit movie. The guy set out to prove McDonald's is bad so he gorged himself there for a month and gained weight. That's not an "experiment."

For a good laugh watch the parody Supersize Me...with Whiskey.

Don't forget Super High Me, where that comedian gets high for 30 days. They show it pretty often on G4, and they'll almost certainly show it coming up on 4/20.

Persius 04-06-2011 10:25 AM

I just checked if this thread was posted in 2007! dam you missed out on this for a while.

Still great watch:thumbsup

Chosen 04-06-2011 11:14 AM

Haven't watched it.
I ate in McDonalds couple of times in my whole life, just for a company with my friends...

John-ACWM 04-07-2011 01:30 AM

Saw it a few years back. Dramatic changes in his body. It also tells that every human is different, yet bad stuff is bad stuff.
