My view, so far, on CoD Black Ops
 

The graphics is amazing.. just amazing.. and the character movements also looks amazing, better than BC2 for sure..

That being said, I think the rest plain sucks.. I hate the gameplay.. too confusing, too pre-determinded

And what tops the suckiness for this game is the fact that you cant destroy ANYTHING, so freaking lame.. You can shoot like a motherfucker at a chair and it will just stand their staring at you like nothing happened.. this is 2010!!

I wouldn't trade this game over BC2 ever

yeah, Bad Company 2 is hard to beat in terms of gameplay - realism.

I skipped black ops, and going to grab the vietnam expansion pack day 1.
Battlefield feels like warfare, COD feels like an arcade game.

one thing that bugs me about Black ops is that it seems to have tech from the future in the load outs, red dot scopes, acogs, digital displays, none of this shit existed in the vietnam war, it was your iron sights and your might :D

I picked up black ops today, since all my friends ( some of who hate COD as much as I do ) were raving about the story.

Gotta say, as far as the campaign goes, it's fucking impressive.
I'll never play the multiplayer, it's garbage but damn they know how to make a good campaign.

Only thing I can't stand is my character feels so loose, like he's on rollerblades LOL.

TreyArch always makes the shitty CoD games.

I'll stick with the Infinity Ward made CoDs.

I love it, Battlefield on the other hand I can't stand. I hate waiting to see someone, the only people that come out on top in that game are the campers and I haaaaaaaaate campers.

It's a different style of game, the point isn't to run around like a headless chicken and see how many kills you can get, only snipers camp in BC2 and that's their job, to camp spot enemies and pick off what they can, they are vulnerable to being flanked.

I'm with you man. I'm enjoying Black Ops because I love the COD series, but its nowhere near the quality of MW2. I wish Activision would just leave Infiniti Ward to make the games.

Yes - the single player campaign IS too pre-determined, good way of putting it.

It's all just console bullshit being ported to PC... PC gaming is dead. Kind of a good thing, need to grow out of it anyway.

I havent gotten into the campain mode yet, but so far i think the multiplayer is amazing, no more commando or noob tubes or quick scoping bullshit, plus zombie mode is bad ass and the new one in the chamber mode and gun game mode are the two best additions to COD

I own all the gaming consoles and i really just cant get into any of them

the one that gets the most use like once or twice a week is the wii ... me and my kid play it

I'm beginning to have some serious performance problems with the game now.. it keeps freezing for a nano-second here and there, annoying as fuck.. and it doesnt help adjusting anything which is quite strange

how is it compared to Medal of Honor?

I'm a Medal of Honor fan .. I'm not playing many games .. Playing the new Medal these days and it's great .. Seeing some COD videos on youtube .. it's great graphics etc.. but MOH seems more realistic ..

Medal of Honor lasted 30 mins in my PS3 before I yanked it out and put in FIFA. I think its complete shit. Won't ever play it again, there goes a fast $80.

I haven't played bad company, but a few friends recommended I pick it up. So far Black Ops seems to be pretty damn fun. I personalty like the multi-player a lot.

And the campaign is really cool; it is fun and very fast paced as an action game should be. It is very linear. It reminds me of Uncharted 2. That game kicked some ass.

Most adventure games now a days are linear in terms of story. I'm sure in time the COD series will change to implement larger maps with more choices. I'd give the game a solid 8/10.

Fun, but could be be better in a few areas.

Medal of Honor does seem more real, but does more realism = more fun? most of the times it doesnt, only time will see how black ops turns out

I finally tried black ops online... and ... it' blows some major ass.

I can't fucking stand the controls, the way my character feels, so slow and sluggish and it basically feels like Medal of Honor on valium.

I'm actually totally hooked on MOH's online, tho it's not for the weak.
You need to play it like it's war - Some dude around the corner? let him come to you, need to flank? Throw a smoke in the snipers faces and flank while they're blind... otherwise you're fuckin' deader than a doornail LOL.

MOH is like battlefield, only 100% CQC. fucking intense, there is a severe learning curve though and most will get raped over and over and likely stop playing before they figure out that it's not a run and gun like COD.

I'll never play black ops online again, total trash.

Don't get me wrong, i like this game. But after buying it on the day it came out, i haven't been rushing to play it much since.

I can remember buying MW2 last year, and played it for hours every day for the first few months, but already i have only played Black Ops a few times, and i'm not in any great rush to go play it again. There's just something missing.

I think rather than it not being a good game, it's just that it's not all that different from the MW2 we played before it, and the World At War before that, and of course COD 4 which i think is still an amazing game.


So i think rather than it being a huge let down, we've just all seen it before, and instead of expecting something new and fantastic, we should probably realise that with each new game, there will only be small changes, some we will like, and some we won't...

It probably depends ho much time you can / want to spend on games. For very occasional players CoD is just fine.

In regards to Battlefiled Bad Company:
I don't think the fluidity in Battlefield Bad Company can remotely compare to Call of Duty games. Aiming doesn't feel smooth at all and the framerate isn't as high.

Black Ops:
The character animations in Black Ops are absolutely incredible! The graphics are outstanding. Textures are decent but definitely optimized to speed up the gameplay to keep it from quick hiccups. Sometimes you feel like you are watching a movie or you are really there. Campaign is intense so far. Keeps you on your toes. COD4 is still probably the best of the series but this is definitely catching up. I love the Multiplayer but I think Treyarch sucks at laying out maps and spawn points are atrocious. GREAT game overall.

It's hard to get more than 3 kills in Team Deathmatch because of people spawning right behind you...

Yep! The worst! Especially when you go out of your way to make sure nobody is in a location. You turn around and magically they appear and shoot you in the back. I think my longest killstreak in Black Ops for me is like 11 or 12. Definitely slower paced because in MW2 I have had tons of 20-30 killstreak sessions. Hope they patch it at some point.

i don't know if you're playing it on the pc or not, but at 1920x1080 and all the settings on full, the graphics are incredible, better than anything else i've ever played.

its amazing how far these games have come, i can remember being amazed playing turok the dinasaur hunter with a voodoo 3dfx card, and that wasn't that many years ago. i can only imagine what the games will be like in 5-10 years time.
