You can't beat Tubes, so stop trying to.
Some common sense marketing advice. On where you can compete with them.
In some areas Tubes own the ground. Trying to compete with them in these areas for most is useless and eventually will fail. Competing with the major Tubes for traffic isn't going to work. They have so much traffic they own this ground. Competing with Tubes in adding content in volume won't work. Major Tubes add more a day than most sites add in a month. Today the only way to compete with them is customer satisfaction and appeal. When a surfer lands on your site he has to be impressed with what he sees. The preview content on the tour needs to be real top notch. Girls who know how to perform, shot by guys or girls who know how to capture the mood and essence of the niche and scene. Don't repeat the same scene over and over again by just changing the girl. Once a guy has seen one girl perform in one way he doesn't want to see another 50 girls doing the same thing. One of the big attractions on Tubes is variation within a niche. Shoot a pick up in the street, a bar, a mall, a car, in fact as many ideas as you can think of. Shoot her in a forest, under a tree, over a tree, a wheat field, a house, a swimming pool, a boat, a lake, again as many places as you can think of and find. And if she's no good. SEND HER HOME. Or your members will not bother to watch it. It's a waste of time and money. Don't fill sites shot by people who can meet your price and little else. Control what they produce and if it's not good enough, drop them or the members will drop your site. Don't rely on the same shooter or a couple all the time. It gets repetitive after a while and boring. Not good for conversions or retention. Some members will want live content, some will want to see the girl chat, some won't. So still give it to those who like it. Some will want to chat on a forum, some won't. Still give it to the members. Some will want to chat on Twitter and some won't. Give it to them. Some will want to stay members for a year and some for a day. Give it to them or lose the guys who want to be members for a day. They for sure aren't signing up for 30 days recurring in droves anymore. If your content of the site is good enough, they will come back. Start thinking. How can I convert more, retain longer and add appeal to my sites. Not how can I get more traffic to fill the holes. Now it's your turn to come up with ideas to make the content of a site, not just the pictures and videos, worth signing up to. Share them or do them yourself. |

One of the biggest problems with my post is getting sponsors to pay more attention and money to the actual product they and the rest of us sell. Until Tubes broke the mold throwing endless streams of traffic at sites full of mediocre content worked. Today it doesn't. It's effecting the entire industry. Your income, Chronig's, Damian's. All are finding it harder and harder to make a living. But thank you for pointing out the problem with many sites buying mediocre content on price alone. And before you say it's just my content. Few shooters have made what we made out of selling content. |

I can see reading and thinking was too much for some people. This thread is saying my content is no longer good enough in 2010. Sponsors need to think a lot harder and spend more on creating content that's a lot better.

The magic join links guy is giving business advice again :(

Hire a warehouse full of Filipinos to upload VERY illegal content to the tubes over and over. That will land them in hot water soon enough. And by VERY illegal, I mean the worst. Every day. All day.
You could also have that same group sending bogus DMCAs out day and night removing every video they can find. This would cripple almost all of the illegal tubes. Only those with traceable submissions and licensed content (that they keep track of) would remain. It is unethical of course to do such a thing, but if someone had the money and were so inclined, they could fight one unethical business model with another. Just talking out of my ass of course. You can't beat them. But you could cause them a lot of pain if you really wanted to. |

I see lots of content that I think people don't want, but I'm wrong about it because someone is just getting on the internet right now and seeing it all for the first time. |

The problem is
Why should I pay for premium content only to have the tubes steal it from me. It's not like they ruin the quality of it by posting it, I help their tube sites get better. |

It is possible to beat or compete against tubes, however it would take much money investment, time, effort and smarts. With enough money, it is possible to build your own tube or buy out other tubes. Perhaps the ones that don't have enough resources to compete for something should stop trying. In other words, it takes money to make money. Revenue is generated after some initial investment is spent wisely.

Yes you have to do what Robbie does and lock it down. Once you have great content locking it down is worthwhile. But there were other ideas for making a members area more appealing to members in my first post. Things Tubes can't steal so easily. Here's another reason to produce premium content. And pay for the extra effort apart from sign ups. DVD sales. There is still a DVD industry. Not flourishing but still there and still buying. If your content is good enough and the price right they will buy. They don't, to my knowledge, pirate content for DVDs. So imagine getting an extra $1,000 to $5,000 for every scene you shoot. Yes if it's good enough they will pay $5,000. Magazine sales. The magazine industry is on it's last legs. But there's still a few companies who will pay $1,000 to $2,000 for a one off publishing right in the US. For solo girl or girl-girl. Add that to a possible sales in the UK, EU, Japan and second rights it makes up for a nice side line to fund content production. Cable sales. Yes cable still buy content. Get out and find who they are and sell to them. The only lines you have to cross is going out and selling it. Once you have a client you have them for as long as you produce the goods. We still sell to Trojan in the UK, they bought PRO a UK publisher best known magazines were Mayfair, Club and Men Only. Eva handles all that now. They've been clients for well over 20 years. And the most important line is quality. If the content isn't good enough you won't sell it. And why should someone buy a months membership for it? Also niche. They don't do anything with the micro niches. So if that's your bag then your out of luck. Sorry if that's true. But for many sites the possibilities are there. It always amazed me and Eva that so few Internet companies didn't sell content elsewhere. Money on the table ignored. |

We all know you think it's way cool you have stalked me (through my public whois) and found out I live in a rented flat. You've posted it about 7 times now. I'm sorry it's so pathetically easy to make you look stupid. I'm sorry the ONLY thing you have on me is that I rent a flat so you keep using that to try and make me look bad. But renting a flat isn't anywhere near as bad as you saying it's a good job you aren't in charge of a group of 15-18 year old girls for fear of not being able to avoid temptation. Carry on posting I live in a rented flat. Post the address. Post the google maps pic. I, nor anyone else, cares. I will let you keep posting about how your think anyone that teaches underage girls must have iron wil power to avoid temptation. You do yourself far more harm than I ever could. At least you've done a Ratner your content isn't good enough so now no-one in their right mind will buy from you anyway. |

Some filehosters like rapidshare are known to delete anything upon first request no matter where the report is coming from - back in the day when rapidshare was THE hoster many uploaders used that to get rid of their competition for better link placements. But even rapidshare had (or has, I don't know) its limits - they won't remove 100K links upon DMCA sent from a gmail account. But that's pretty uncommon - most of the rapidshare clones are having it on their DMCA page now that they'll process only those takedown requests sent from business e-mail addresses. Guess most tubes are like that too. |
I posted the truth about you. Your 40ish. Live in a rented flat that's in a converted house. That backs onto a railway. The interior looks like a shit hole. For all your arrogant and superior stances you're worth fuck all.
At 40 I was a 1/3 in on paying off a mortgage. On a place they had 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and big enough to shoot in. At 60 I'm retired and live off what I've made and what I've shot over the last 30 years. At 60 you'll be living off a State pension and the Government support. Good luck with that in the UK. Assuming you keep employed until you're 60. Good luck finding a job when the Adult Internet implodes and turns it's back on you. 6 years in the porn business will look great on your CV. :1orglaugh |

Not everyone has the same goals in life as you. I don't WANT to live in a small village in an eastern bloc country with a bought wife. I am glad you do and am certain the stories in the UK about the real reasons you left the country are untrue. I certainly won't post them here, anyway. You keep posting the same thing though Paul. Because you have nothing else to try and put me down. And I am REALLY sorry the ONE thing you have isn't anything that bothers me. But at least you now admit your content is not worth buying. We have progressed. Now if only you can think of another way to try and insult me? Here are some things you could try: a) I'm slightly camp, why not try calling me gay or a fag or something? b) I have grey hair c) I have a rubber face d) I like Macintosh computers e) I read The Guardian f) I enjoy performing card magic Go on, sure you can get something better than the fact I live in a rented flat out of all that lot! xxx |
