In my city we have a large shelter where many vets eat and spend nights, and the local VA provides transportation for day programs. It isn't perfect, but it keeps many people from living on the streets and they have access to medical and mental health care.

You can bet they have the proper training to survive on the streets...

If you want to help verterans, contact the local VFW, they are a very good organization and only have the best at heart for the veterans, also booze is cheap in their bars!

I can write something more that is of a higher quality. Forces can be separated into ground forces, air forces and navy forces. Moving a huge marching army on the ground means that camps and food need to be provided. It's possible that every soldier carries a metal spoon and metal bowl. Brujah talked about accounting. Shelters, food, clothing, weapons, armor, cattle - all this is a lot of resources. It's hard to lead an army when the coffers have little gold left. An army might try to raid an enemy encampment to take their food, weapons, artillery, slaves/prisoners, gold, precious stones, metals and more.
