Anyone else having issues with ICQ
All of a sudden I got disconnected and now I can't log in. I've gone through the process of resetting my password "successfully" three times now but it still doesn't work. Their site isn't much help either.
I use Adium, but I've also tried with iChat and I can't log in through either so I'm assuming it's an ICQ issue. If you have had this issue and can help out it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |
yes, can't log in either. Adium as well.

Try ICQ pro, its old skool but works well!!

I couldn't do a search using ICQ numbers. It kept saying No Matches Found for 2 days. I wish I never upgraded. Lost all of my History too. :( Anybody know how to retrieve history from an older ICQ version? I am using 7.2. WAS 6.5 for the longest.

Yeah, it's broken here too.
|
Broken here also.

It is some update on ICQ side. Try to change server to login.icq.com in your client.

For some reason it was showing the AOL IM server name. So it seems this is an issue with 3rd party IM software deleting the correct ICQ server name. |
When I logged out of ICQ 6.5 an hour ago, it failed to quit properly. Then when I just logged back in and answered NO to the "do you want to upgrade ICQ?" question 4 times, it downloaded the fucking upgrade anyway and then wanted me to click to install it now. Of course even if you say NO, it'll install it the next restart anyway.
What I did is navigate to programfiles/icq6.5/Upgrade and delete the upgrade file, then I made the folder hidden and read only. This might work to prevent forced upgrades. More likely if you dont want to upgrade, you'll need to delete the upgrade file each time it downloads before you start up icq. I really hate the forced bullshit which will include forced bookmarks, forced desktop icons, forced aol install.. all kinds of forced shit that no human on any planet would want. If you use a third party program to connect to icq, no doubt you're having trouble because ICQ is trying to force itself into you. :helpme |
The latest version is godawful slow...it takes forever to connect...
|
I got a forced install, and immediately my virus scanner went mad. Toolbars i didn't want. have to put my computer 1 week back to solve it.
|
Skype makes me happy

Yeah for a week now. I thought it was an issue with trillian, switched to ICQ and still the same. Time to send smoke signals I guess.
|
I've had to resort to this version on windows 7... no problems and I never am asked to upgrade.
http://www.oldversion.com/ICQ.html try icq2003b |
