Has the google site preview hurt or helped your traffic?/

I am seeing mixed results so far. I need to do some more stats checking.

Its seems that landing pages are not getting the traffic they used too and anything that looks like a tube is getting a ton of clicks.

What are your findings?

Agent 488 11-13-2010 09:51 AM

what date did it go into effect?

Agent 488 11-13-2010 09:55 AM

for sites with stable rankings not seeing any big differences.

datatank 11-13-2010 10:01 AM

Im not sure the exact date.
I noticed it a few days ago.
I am sure it rolled out slowly over a week or so.
Still not sure ALL users are seeing it all the time

i wish google would stop fucking with their search

first they add that gay ass column to the left of the results, then they fuck with the google images, add some shitty instant search and now some kind of bullshit preview

it was already working perfect before all that. why complicate things.

I still cant find a porn site with Preview!
I only saw that on any other site, but none in porn related!

why they added instant:

Google Instant is a simple numbers game of supply and demand. By showing results as users type, Google is trying to shrink the total pool of keyword phrases people search on – because the ads you see as you type are based on Google’s hypothesis of the ultimate search term, not on what the user has typed in so far. Combine this with limiting the Keyword Tool, in an effort to shrink the total pool of keyword phrases people bid on. All of these changes are designed to drive up competition on a core set of phrases, thereby driving up advertisers’ costs per click.

did it work?

The way it seems as of now, Google is raking in a additional five million bucks every week owing to the launch of the Google Instant.

Marin Software ran an analysis on the Instant and found that the new interface has indeed paid off by increasing the ad impressions by nearly one tenth and the click throughs of the ads by a twentieth of what it used to be before the launch of the new application.

This is quite possibly due to an algorithm change, not to the instant search. From what I've read it sounds like Google has changed something that makes internal pages more likely to rank. I have a site where an internal page is ranking on page 1 for a term that I would expect the index page to rank better for, I don't think Google have got this right yet.

It helped big time with my mainstream sites.

Adult sites get mostly censored by this tool...

90% of people don't change the Safe-Search to allow adult.

I haven't noticed a change in traffic but I personally don't like it at all. I haven't found a way to disable it either...
