Google Question - Language and Geo Targeting
Let's say I register a .de domain (Germany). I install wordpress on it (probable the english version because I would have a bit more trouble understanding the german version) and my blog entries will be in German. I do link exchanges to increase the PR but I will exchange links with mostly English sites. My link's anchors on other sites will be mostly in German.
As my site's pagerank increases, will this have any effect on German folks who are using google.de and searching on german keywords? Any tips on how to improve the results? My goal is to get more German traffic to my site. Thanks :) |
by default a .de domain will give you some priority in the search results for people using google in germany. What language the sites linking to are in doesn't matter in my experience.
One thing the jury is still out on (for me at least) is whether or not hosting your website in germany will help your results. Id like to know if this helps, having an ip in the country you are targeting. |

And installing WP in english instead of in german will not make much of a difference?

You can get more German visitors from Google. Make sure your anchor texts are in German for the keyword you are looking for. Even if your links are on English sites, you're doing it the right way with German anchor texts.

Cool, thanks.
More tips are welcome :) |
