Went to Massive Attack show yesterday...

Best damn show I've EVER seen. Period. No question they're borderline geniuses and they were always trespassing boundaries in music, but the visual aspect was simply jaw breaking. Add to that Martina Topley Bird and Horace Andy singing.... PERFECTION.

On a side note, Martina played solo very early (it was a festival) and right after the show she got down the stage to share some time and talk to the very little people that were there. A fucking goddess!

No complaints about these year's shows, I've seen Tricky, Pixies, Massive Attack and QOTSA to name a few, 4 of my fucking favorite bands in the same year! :thumbsup

Ayla_SquareTurtle 11-21-2010 02:33 PM

I saw them a couple of weeks ago in Dallas. It was my second MA show and even my best friend who is generally not really into them was blown away.

DWB 11-21-2010 02:39 PM

I saw them in Berlin back on the Mezzanine tour. Fucking outstanding show.

Anyone have their tour dates for this one?

BlackCrayon 11-21-2010 02:40 PM

Yesterday was the last one in the tour, they announced they'll be working on a new movie next year and dedicate more time to their Palestinian Kid's Help non profit organization

chronig 11-21-2010 02:46 PM

I only know that 'you are my angel' song but it's very good

First heard it in Snatch and then afterwards when some girl told me about it

well, if you watch House MD, the opening music is Massive Attack's "Teardrop". In Blade 3 you also had "I against I" featuring Mos Def (AMAZING!!!!) as well as many many many movies, including the only 0 gravity porn movie ever made: "The Uranus Experiment" released by Private

The Porn Nerd 11-21-2010 03:08 PM

Wait - she's LEAVING Massive Attack? WTF WHY???

Massive Attack are Gods - as are The Pixies and, well, Tricky used to be....who's the other one of your four, tho? Haven't heard of them unless I'm fucked on the acronym. :)

Argos88 11-21-2010 04:11 PM

harvey, who the fuck is MASSIVE ATTACK??

Who the fuck is STEREOPHONICS?? I have never hear of them before.

BTW, you forgot to say the most important part of you, HARVEY... Why don't you say that you are travelling in South America??

Otherwise it would be impossible to see that show..

For some reason you don't say that you are in vacations in Buenos Aires... Why not?

.

The Porn Nerd 11-21-2010 05:20 PM

I do not know these "Queens" of which you speak, O Harveymeister.
I could Google, or YouTube, or fucking ASK an actual "human being" (whatever they are) but NO! I choose not.

Instead I choose to let Harvey, my favorite Hipster, educate my lame ass. The last concert I went to was Counting Crows Yada Yada Traveling Medicine Show Yada Yada-Thingy in September.

Poindexterity 11-21-2010 07:51 PM

I saw em when they came through here with Thievery corporation.

I had no idea thievery corporation sucked so bad.

The Porn Nerd 11-21-2010 07:59 PM

Yes Harvey YES they ROCK these Queens of the Stone Age!! I liked them so much that I wrote a Fat Foo-inspired review:

I like them. Their songs have a lot of riffs. It is hard to tell by looking at them which are the transvestites. They also do not look old enough to be from the Stone Age.
Good luck!

:) :) :)

yes, they played yesterday before MA, but I got bored by the 2nd song and went for a beer and some food but ended smoking a joint with friends in a bizarre wedding chapel in company of a dwarf Elvis, a dwarf cherub who was already on meth or something and a pony while my wife lectured us on the degradation of using "short people" for this kind of things. Put in context, my wife was the funnier one of us all.

Anecdotes apart, Thievery Corporation are good musicians, very correct, but I was like "man, I heard that crap 1000000 times before, and I heard it from its masters, it's fucking 2010, come with something new!" . The whole "put some funky rhythm, add 2 tones, a wah-wah and an "Oh Yeah" " stuff is way too old

i saw qotsa back in 2003, songs for the deaf tour. didn't get to see them with grohl on drums but lanagan was there and did a few songs which was cool. i need to see them again. i haven't paid too much attention to their new stuff but still listen to the first 3 albums pretty regularly.

the members are two: "3D" and "Daddy G", they started with a third member "Mushroom" that left the group years ago.
They change the singers for almost all records, Martina is one of them, but is not part of the group.
my favorite band, always

marlboroack 11-22-2010 06:25 AM

you got it right but I think he was talking about BlackCrayon calling Tricky a band instead of a solo artist.
