Peter Weller (Robocop) on Dexter
I thought that the last season of Dexter (with John Lithgow) was stunning - until the final epsiode - which was ridiculously contrived. It shattered any suspension of belief I may have held. A joke of a season finale. Pathetic.
I was thinking along the same lines this year with Julia Stiles. Contrived. Idiotic. Dexter kills dudes while his sister and the cops are circling the building - yet he follows Julia's rules like a little puppy. The show is now a joke... Except for Peter Weller. I missed a few episodes, and IMDB says Mr. Weller only appeared in 4 episodes so I guess I missed him dying on the show. He could have easily overcome John Lithgow's character. Peter Weller is a lot smarter than anyone involved with the show, and he's a much better actor than anyone who came before him. A shame. Stan Liddy is a strong enough character to build a season around. A better actor than Keith Carradine, Julia Stiles, John Lithgow, and Jimmy Smits. Well, I'm a better actor than Jimmy Smits, but... I'm going to go watch the last three epsodes that I missed, but Robocop would waste Dexter in a second. I have a fellig I'm going to be disappointed. Peter Weller is smarter than anyone else on Dexter, and he's a better actor, as well. Funny how IMDB doesn't list Engineering An Empire under his credits. He - and Julia Stiles - must have paid a fortune to try to restore some credibility to this show. |
Julia! :)

Peter Weller is still on the show ... he's the busted cop that is working for Quinn to investigate Dexter
|
Get that Julia bitch off the show though, hate her & she's ugly

I watched right through the first few seasons up to this one, and enjoyed them. Then I watched the first 4 episodes in this new season and I'm just not feeling it anymore. It's not what it was before Rita got knocked off. Dexter trying to play daddy constantly, while living with Deb, and playing this balancing act? It's not playing out well, and it's even less interesting than I can handle myself.

I am a huge fan of the show, but I agree that this season isn't as good as some in the past. Peter Weller is on the show still and he is interesting, but he, like others on the show is kind of a stereotype. He is a drunk cop who is in trouble and losing his career an thinks this might bring him back out of it.
I actually really liked the finale of Season 4. Dexter as a married guy wasn't going to work and this freed him up. I suppose having him keep the baby is just a tool to yank him around and show how hard it is for him to carry out his deeds now. This season started off good, but it seems to be lacking something and has some very far fetched moments. I know they have Michael C. Hall under contract for at least 2 more seasons so hopefully over those 2 seasons they will fashion a legit ending to this before it goes on too long and completely falls apart. Still, an average episode of Dexter is better than just about every other show out there these days. They have four episodes left, I hope they pull it together in a solid way. BTW I like Julia Stiles. She is hot and in those early episodes when she was still all beat up and being held captive she was pretty freaking good as well. |
This season is very good..loving it
ALL DEXTER is GOOD SHIT |

Honestly, there was just no way this season was going to live up to last season. That said, it has gotten better as it has progressed...really slow start to it but now some interesting wrinkles are turning up which might save it to be a good season. It seems to be mirroring season 3 in quality so far, and season 3 was pretty good towards the end. |
its amazing Peter Weller hasn't done bigger films for years, he's a better actor than most yet he shows up in some atrocious b-movies from time to time.

i cant watch dexter anymore
|
i like dexter

I watch it, and I just sit there screaming at the TV, Kill the wife, kill the kids, kill em all and get it over with, you are a serial killer.. Girl getting naggy? Kill her! Julia Stiles not showing her tits, kill her!
Seriously though, I like the show but they just keep recycling plot lines, kinda rediculous. The mentor plot line, the troublesome snooping cop, the almost getting busted... how many times can they do this. Just have him kill everyone and end the show or at least end the show being in Miami... he kills everyone and moves to a new city to start over. :thumbsup |

Maybe he'll get the opportunity to go full-bore psycho, but I won't hold my breath. |
Engineering An Empire - Now that's good TV.

This season is definitely lackluster, but is finally picking up the last couple episodes. It's easy to ell they have new writers and with Chip Johanssen running the ship, he's in over his head and not near the producer that Clyde Phillips was. The show has always had it's share of plotholes and suspension of disbelief, but this season has been above the curve in those aspects. That being said, things I thought were sloppy writing (like Dexter really breaking out of his typical character) are starting to come together to pave the way for him to get caught. Next season should definitely be the last, either with him getting caught or spending time on the run.

Youre all just jealous...

In the end, Deb will be the one who catches him :2 cents:

Many have enjoyed the Robocop computer game.

You're right, didn't remember that!

I love the show, but I am getting tired of the same formula season after season. Serial killer vs. serial killer while homicide is clueless except for one person on Dexter's tail. Family life and highly improbably situations keep messing up his game plans while his mental refrains with the ghost of daddy bring him closer to sanity/humanity at a glacial pace that's supposed to make us keep liking him.
That said, I'm in for the last three episodes hoping that the writers will break with the traditions of the last four seasons a little this time... PS - Lumen is hot, and anyone who disagrees is the gay. |
it is a really good show! :)
|
You guys suck.. I'm loving this season
|
Dexter is better in season 5 than most shows...
I actually liked the season 4 finale. |
