NFL Game With No Announcers

It won't be live...but it sounds like it will be awesome.

NFL Films on the Saturday after Thanksgiving will air the Bengals-Jets game on NFL Network, using only the words of players and coaches who will be miked up for the Thanksgiving night game.

?We?ve got 15 players and coaches miked during the game, including both coaches and all the coordinators and quarterbacks and middle linebackers,? NFL Films president Steve Sabol said. ?We?ll have 60 people shooting the game, which is more than we use for a Super Bowl, and then we?ll turn it around in 48 hours and show it to you through the eyes of the players. It?s something you won?t see anywhere else.?

sadly, that means listening to t.o. and ochocinco. i am not sure that's better. ;-)

actually sounds pretty cool. being at a game and watching it on TV is completely different, im interested to see how this goes

I am not an NFL fan as I am canadian, however that sounds like a great idea. When NHL announcers were on strike, they aired hockey games with no announcers and I enjoyed it. I would have enjoyed it even more with the voices of the players/coaches.

Can't be a bad thing to be honest. The announcers usuallly just talk shit all game anyway...

I recall them experimenting with this in the 80's, and the game I watched wasn't that good and it just made it worse, but they didn't have the players and coaches wired for sound on that one, all you heard was the stadium PA announcer.

now if they could just take it to the next step and show it live with a remote that allows you to control who you are hearing...

maybe you might know the answer to this, but wasn't there some games in the EPL that would have a fan from each team doing the announcing? I thought I saw a couple of clips that were fantastic. Do they still do that?

how will the censoring be done? i'm sure players aren't always watching what they say, or does nfl network not care about that?

Fan-Zone on Sky Sports. Sometimes it was funny as hell. Not actually sure if they still do it or not.

Gonna try and find a clip for you with the 2 fans going mental during an Arsenal v Tottenham game. You'll piss yourself laughing lol...

They could put a camera on the player helmet. In that case, it would be first person view of the game.

That's a cool idea but I wonder what happens if it becomes a blowout. I sure the conversation stops being interesting.
