airport protest doesn't take off... FAIL!
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_airport_security
Who is the moron that started this "protest"? Some keyboard warrior sitting at his computer really thought that people would purposely slow down the lines, causing them to miss their flights and be stock at the airport for hours waiting for the next flight instead of getting to their destination as soon as possible??? I don't get what is the big deal with the scanners. Seems people bitch and oppose things just for the sake of trying to be difficult or because they don't want to be told what to do. They cut off their nose to spite their face. Obviously we need better security at our airports. Do you want to walk through a scanner or potential be on a plane with a guy who had a bomb in his underware or he tries to light his shoe on fire and it blows up and you or a loved one dies. What is more important to you, walking through a stupid scanner or having less security. |
obviously you dont fly much, all this shit is a TOTAL pain in the ass! Other Countries like Israel, do more with less:2 cents:

I've also flown to Italy with layover in Germany and every one was pat down and they really got up in your crotch. I was a little surprised, never been frisked like that before. They did it to everyone, i don't mind. Can't say I have been to Israel to comment on how it is done there, have you? Do what you need to do to ensure my safety when I am flying / crossing the boarder. Those are the places where security should be tight. I just dont get the people who bitch about the "intrusion" what is better a little intrusion or protecting lives? and not to mention if you don't like it stay the fuck home or drive. |
fuck the TSA.
i won't fly until they get rid of the scanners and the rape sessions. |

and i don't want them either - i accept the current level most european airlines have: metal scanner while leaving your shoes on. |
Amputate Your Head
This message is hidden because Amputate Your Head is on your ignore list for being a moron. HAHA i knew this guy would show up in this thread. I am sure he is bitching about the govt and no one tells him what to do. blah blah I wonder why some of you still even live in this country when you hate it so much. Quote:
I don't think Europe has had planes hijacked and flown into their buildings killing thousands of people or others with shoe and underwear bombs trying to blow up their planes. Obviously walking through a regular metal detector / scanner only picks up.... metal. What is the problem with some security measures to try to keep everyone safe? You people either are really too uptight, naive, or don't like when big bad govt makes you do something, even if it is for your own good. |

According to some news reports, the naked scanners weren't being used much, if at all, at many of the airports that have them. Hence, in many instances, there was nothing to protest.
The government isn't as dumb as people make it out to be ... they thought this one through ... limited use of the scanners / fewer patdowns today to speed up the lines, and moreover, make it appear as if the protests failed... Much of the news media and public bought it hook and sinker. Older I get, the more realize how little has changed ... the forefathers of the USA didn't trust the masses, and for good reason. Most people have no clue; most want to be told what to do - can't think for themselves. Bottom line is, as always been true, those with money and connections have freedom ... the rest of the population, well, with the ironic exception of those who choose to live off the land with little interaction with general society (ie. some Amish sects), are serfs with little true freedom ... Try to take a trip to Cuba without permission by the U.S. government and see how that goes; Americans, effectively, do NOT have the freedom of movement, which gets to the crux of these scanners and patdowns ... One is basically has to make a Hobson's Choice http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hobson%27s_choice when it comes to air travel. While driving and other modes of transportation are mostly scanner / patdown free for now, that's likely to change in the near future ... there's much discussion of using similar "enhanced" security methods at select train stations and bus terminals. As far as those who argue that flying is a privilege, be aware that, from a legal standpoint, so is driving. So if the government can stop one who refuses to go through security from flying, the government can, potentially, just as easily stop one from driving, if they choose to. Point is that the mode of transportation doesn't take away one's rights, though most have been brainwashed to believe it does; it does not! Ron |

That's great right? ..I'm so glad the main stream media is telling the sheep that no one is protesting naked body scanners, and rape sessions.
Now, Homeland Security can move onto step two keeping you EVEN more "safe" by installing body scanners on all public transportation, trains, boats, in schools, and conduct behavioral interrogation before allowing you to enter sporting events, rock concerts, and shopping malls. |

second: all of this security measures are totally useless. next time someone walks with a bomb into the airport and blows himself up at the gate. or think about time square. a football game. i'm sure there's many more things that can be blown up with lots of casualties. where does it stop? at which point everyone will be searched as soon as he is leaving his house? it will never work out, right now those al quaeda guys are laughing their asses off for every dollar you spend on more security while you economy goes belly up. |

I'll be happy with SAFER or the SAFEST solutions thanks. These threads always bring out the nutty, conspiracy theorist, govt keeping the little man down... people Quote:
Planes can also be used as weapons, which is what makes it different than the other places you mentioned. You can't protect everywhere, unfortunately. I was just mentioning to someone how I wish there was more security measures at sporting events. I go to both college and NFL football games. At least at the NFL games they pat you down, even though it is half ass and they barely touch you. The college games they don't even pat you down. Neither make you walk through a metal detector. At the college game I could have an AK47 under my coat and they wouldnt know, go in fire it off and kill a bunch of people and the mad rush stamped from the panic will kill 100s more as people would get trampled. Airports and planes seem to be the target of choice with terrorist at this time, so we need to at least do what we can there. If they start targeting sporting events you can be sure they will need to ramp up security measures there as well. If they did a better job protecting the boarders and points of entry then things would be a little more safer in this country. Its just a matter of time a suit case nuke walks across the boarder from Mexico via the middle east. |
133 passangers at LAX refuse scanners

I was watching coverage of the non-protest on CNN earlier today. Some passenger basically said, "I don't look like Osama bin Laden so why am I being frisked?"
But as far as I remember, the folks who blew the planes up didn't look like Osama, either. They were dressed as regular Westerners and had been to school in the US. So looking for turbans or robes won't help overly much. |
Since I'm not going to walk, ride a horse, take a train, or drive for days and days to get somewhere, I'm glad to know that the airplane is as safe as they can make it and I'm more than willing to let them pat my junk to keep us all safe. You never know who is going to have dangerous junk.

how hard is it for someone to fire an RPG at the plane after takeoff? if someone wants to blow the damn thing up, it will be blown up, gate rape or not. |

A tow is a much better weapon for taking out a plane. RPG pretty much suck.

I fly 10 to 20 times a year domestically, if they introduce airport scanners over here i'll be driving whenever possible. I refuse to be scanned and will not let some security idiot pat me down. How anyone can possibly think that these scanners are doing any good is beyond me. BTW - the reason JFK said these are a pain in the ass is they slow the whole process down. Scanning or patting down passengers is time consuming. |
id vote for full anal cavity searches for every passenger, anyone who disagrees is obviously a terrorist or doesn't wipe properly. Its for your own safety.

Rewards not worth the price??? Are you fucking retarded??? a pat down or walking through a scanner IF NOTHING ELSE THAN A DETERRENT TO DISCOURAGE THE TERRORIST FROM EVEN TRYING is not worth the potential loss of life. If someone you know dies from a plane being bombed I wonder if you would still feel the "rewards not worth the price". Quote:
Its pretty simple if you remove all of your political brainwashed biased views. OMG and to think Obama is letting this happen on his watch too. I bet that is burning some of you up. This isn't the govt tapping your phones, going into your financial accounts, going into your house etc... it is really fucking simple. Airport, bad people, keep bad people off planes, let good people on. If you have a better way to keep bad people off then please share, obviously 911 and the attempts since then proved we need more security. |
And all of you who say you wont fly now are so full of shit its not even funny you will.
I just can't see why so many people get so bent out of shape about a scanner or pat down? Are you that much of a prude that someone can't pat you down? Or that you have to go through a body scanner ??? I could see women being a little more concerned / self conscious, but guys ? I still can't figure out if it is a "big brother/ political ... fuck the govt" thing or a self conscious thing? Which ever, safety is more important so get over it. It's not being implimented for shits and giggles or just to piss you off. Completely shocked at the amount of people who are so against something that is so obviously there to try to better protect them. They can pat my junk all they want. I'll go through the scanner twice with wood if I need to, who the fuck cares what some TSA agent sees when you go through a body scanner or god forbid someone may have to touch you... which industry is this we are in, the old lady knitting club ? and no going through it a couples times a year is not going to give you cancer. If you worried about cancer there are thousands of other things you should be more worried about. Fuck, half of you bitching about "cancer" probably smoke. unbelievable. |
What others, and myself, are saying translated into some sound bytes ...
"Safety usually involves a trade-off in freedom." "Only way to be 100% safe is to be 100% dead." To believe the TSA and other government actions are non-political is naive, and that's putting it mildly. It's all political; controlling the masses while benefiting the power-elite... The real threat, from the perspective of the power-elite, of airliners being hijacked isn't the passengers, but rather the plane itself being used as a weapon... There's currently no cost effective way to protect buildings and those within from a jumbo jet fully loaded with fuel flying at upwards of 500 MPH. That's what the power-elite truly fear and will do most anything to stop, people's civil rights be damned. What's the answer? ... 1. People need to realize there's always going to be a tradeoff when living in a "free" society. (Though it increasingly appears many in the U.S. would prefer to have their actions dictated by the government - want to take a flight, raise your hands, expose one's self to a stranger, and likely get groped too.) 2. Proactive use of technology can help, such as hardened, locked cockpit doors (a simple security measure that's been highly effective), using less flammable fuel (crazy? nope, it's been researched and, from my understanding, is used in some military applications), and remote overrides / hard-coded flight boundaries (ie. attempting to fly a plane towards an important government building would be restricted automatically by software; this is being developed and likely will be deployed in the near future). Ron |
Quote:
How about "proactive" measures to keep them off the plane, not just out of the cockpit ?? |
Quote:

Quote:
From the perspective of the power-elite, if a hijacked plane blows up before reaching an important target, even if the passengers and some unimportant people on the ground die, that's just collateral damage. Heck, the U.S. military already has a procedure for shooting down hijacked jetliners - it's not about protecting the passengers, it's all about protecting valuable targets (ie. Sep-11-2001 attack, most all the damage and most of the deaths were on the ground) from being hit by the aircraft. In short, for many terrorists, controlling the aircraft is a critical part of their terror plot - the locked cockpit door presents a serious barrier, and presumably, discourages many from even trying; provides pilots extra time to take counter-measures. Ron |
TSA fails to find shit all the time. They have a huge ass failure rate even when testing themselves.
The air marshalls make 4 arrests per year, costs only $800,000,000. This big brother talk is stupid. Yes, the government likes to do shit to keep citizens in line. That's irrelevant. We are no safer today than we were yesterday. If you are such a pussy about dying quit going to sleep, better chance you die there than on a plane. I like the rights I have. I already know where this road leads and it's not worth it. PS, enjoy your cancer. |

I am soooooooo fucking glad I don't have to deal with the crap over here. I go right to the airport, minimal security, everyone is pleasant, and we fly ON TIME to where ever I'm heading. Totally hassle free.
It is only a matter of time before events, bus travel, train travel and little Joe's soccer game will have you walking through x-ray machines and dealing with security. Wait until some ass blows up a train or a shopping mall, it's all over. |
