Now, this is some "killer" technology

Many years ago I did some contract work at a location that did a lot of development for the military. I remember working in this one lab and the guy telling me that the soldier of tomorrow was going to make Robocop seem like G.I. Joe. I see his comments are coming even more true than before.

No hiding place from new U.S. Army rifles that use radio-controlled smart bullets

* Weapon hailed as a game-changer that can fire up and over barriers and down into trenches
* Soldiers will start using them in Afghanistan later this month

The U.S. army is to begin using a futuristic rifle that fires radio-controlled 'smart' bullets in Afghanistan for the first time, it has emerged.

The XM25 rifle uses bullets that be programmed to explode when they have travelled a set distance, allowing enemies to be targeted no matter where they are hiding.

The rifle also has a range of 2,300 feet making it possible to hit target which are well out of the reach of conventional rifles.

The XM25 is being developed specially for the U.S. army and will be deployed with troops from later this month, it was revealed today.
More . . .

You mean there really are 'magic' bullets. The JFK assassination has now officially been solved.

Are you sure its not another "The Onion" story?
Is Percy Cummings your friend?

If having airplanes and tanks isn't helping I'm not too sure that this will be any different.

My band played numerous gigs for the Canadian Government in the 80s and 90s. I played every military base and prison in the country east of BC.

There's a mountian in North Bay that is completely mobile. It won't get up and walk, but it can do almost everything else. Its hollow, and its equipped to wipe out the entire world.

Being peaceful Canadians, the operation is now "moth-balled". The official base of CFB North Bay is now above ground. When I was there, it wasn't. It was buried in a mountain that could be opened and collapsed on a moment's notice. Although not an official CFB site today, its still waiting, under the mountain, ready to be deployed at a moment's notice.

Although Canada and the US bicker all the time, what I saw on the tour of the NORAD base in North Bay terrified me. It left me feeling that there was no safe place in the world.

There will never be a serious confrontation between Canada and the U.S. I know nothing about our apparently pathetic military, but I do know this: If the U.S. ever declared war against Canada, all of the weapons you've planted on Canadian soil would be turned against you.

What I was shown on our tour of 22 Wing was nothing but what the soldiers were authorized to show us. What they were allowed to show me was terrifying. Beyond my comprehension.

I know our Armed Forces are considered pussies and powerless peacekeepers. Our boys die defending America in Aghanistan. Nobody attacked us, yet we die defending ideals both countries share. Show some fucking respect.

Back to NORAD:

With the right command - from an agreeable American President - the world dies. Its a simple statement of fact. Pussy little Canada has nuclear capabilities beyond your wildest dreams. If your president tires to confront Canadaviolently, it would only take a few keypresses to aim NORAD south.

I'm sorry. When it comes to the life and death of nations - you really don't want to fuck with us.

No matter how much you grow to hate us, you will never declare war against us. We have a massive collection of your weapons, and NORAD - although idle at the moment - is basically based here, thanks to the old Soviett threat from the north.

America will never seriously threaten Canada.

The Under-Ground Complex (UGC), or "the hole", remains mothballed but can be returned to operation if conditions should warrant.
This may seem nonesense rambling, but its the truth. Young Americans aren't the only people dieing. America does not pose much of a threat to - nor does it dominate - any country on this panet.

Every word is true. I love the U.S.A. I'm afraid its going to be brought down.

Maybe the next stop in the evolution of military technology: realistic looking "replicant" type robots that can be used as soldiers.:thumbsup

On the flipside, terrorists can use them as proxy suicide bombers :helpme

what?

could it be that...

You played at a military base and got drunk with some soldiers with some access.. they thought while they had your wide eyed attention they'd start making wild and crazy claims and start labeling things, that were probably industrial sized washing machines and jeep parts, as a nuclear arsenal and weapons of 'great terror'?

did you just demand respect? you find that very affective?

just some questions from another Canadian ;)

that is like small rockets, is in it?!?

fatfoo 11-30-2010 09:05 AM

baddog, congratulations with helping to develop the USA military. I have seen several Robocop movies. The bullet that flies up and down into trenches would require very accurate use of gravity. The bullet does get pulled down by gravity as it travels through air. I don't think the bullet can turn left, right, up or down by a lot of degrees as it flies through the air. Unless, it's not a bullet, but a rocket, or something.

Military Channel did a show on these guns. Very cool!
