I mean it is just fucking terrible the last week. No bump today either.

The good news: It was real good the week before.

Still getting some dating sales but they are down too.

Personally I think the Holidays are not helping. Maybe everyone is buying gifts about now.

Hopefully I am just in a slump and you are doing well. :)

Thankfully I am now breaking even on real bad days. I mean my sales pay for traffic. No profit. It could be worse. I could be losing money. So actually making zip is an improvement for me for terrible times. :upsidedow

I removed almost all CCBill. Anyone no longer sending sales. They just dont cut it. They rebill ok. But converting is just too low.

I am down to 26 programs I now promote. :) I have prob 150 now idle as links have been finally pulled. :(

I am trying to get down to even less. I current;y hit 3 progs hardest. I believe in the old school way of consolidating down to less sponsors which is what Zombaio helps do.

But I want more. Need fresh blood. Appreciate the tip man.

Maybe I mixed them up with Verotel. Verotel ruined me for all the other 3rd party proc guys. Epoch Stats has a couple good sites and recurs well, pays well, ect. But fucking Verotel. They have an even worse interface than CCBill.

My humble advice, concentrate on 10-20 programs (max), hit them hard. Unless you have an absolute shitload of hits and the programs are converting, you're watering down your efforts.

Micro-niche is the way to go for small affiliates like ourselves these days.

What are you selling. I am seeing consistent numbers and a slow growth. about 5% per week. Even surprised that Thanks giving day was as high as all the others last week.

Niches have always way outsold vanilla which is sort of what GF is. But with Youtube it really hurt the main niches (foot, bdsm, kissing, tranny) but with the micro niches perhaps even YT has not or can not go there.

Well don't forget about spiders. Unless you account for this a small number of clicks from many sources could be nothing more than a bot hitting your sites. Whereas with the larger volume a lessor percentage of hits are probably bots.

Next explanation. Probably shaving. Take 1,000 webmasters sending 2,000 clicks each a month with an average conversion of 1:1500. Now these webmasters are small time from the perspective of the program and the affiliate rep. The affiliate rep is under orders from the boss to somehow make up for the $50 PPS deal given to SUPER-BIG-FUCKING-WHALE-ILLEGAL-TUBE-OWNER who is sending 50 sales a day. They know they either pay the tube owner the $50 PPS or they will lose him. The rep is under a non-disclosure contract and is also told by the boss that since times are tough either they do this or the boss is going to have to lay them off. The rep has also been conditioned to hate the smaller affiliates (Never sending many joins, always hitting them up, pointing out bad ratios, arguing with them about things, not doing anything to make the boss praise the rep, etc). They are told that these guys sending 2,000 hits a month are just part webmasters looking for beer money anyway and it's their fault "for not working harder".

So the rep sets the shave for these 1,000 webmasters to 60%. This means that 60% of sales will not be credited to the affiliate.

Whale-tube-owner: 50 sales * $50 PPS * 365 days = $912,500 payout / year
(Would be $638,750 at $35 PPS)

Each of the small affiliates send 2,000 clicks a month at an average 1:1500 ratio but 60% is being shaved to make up for the payments to the whale. So:

1,000 * 2,000 * 12 = 24,000,000 clicks from small affiliates per year

24,000,000 / 1500 = 16,000 sales

16,000 * 35 PPS = $560,000 Payouts that should be paid.

However, the shave is set to 60%.

$560,000 * .4 = $224,000 actually paid to the 1,000 small affiliates.

$560,000 - $224,000 = $336,000 shaved from small affiliates per year.

And instead of seeing the actual 1:1500 ratio all these small affiliates see something like a 1:3500 ratio and are none the wiser.

Summary / TLDR :

1. Whale-Illegal-Tube-Owner gets his $50 PPS deal and keeps sending traffic.

2. 1,000 small affiliates get shaved at 60% rate and now have 1:3500 ratios (Real ratios: 1:1500).

3. Shaving of 1,000 small affiliates generates $336,000 per year to be used to pay the whale illegal tube site owner.

4. Program owner is happy and will have a drink with whale illegal tube site owner at the next show.

5. Affiliate rep keeps his job in a recession. Rep justifies it as being the small affiliate's fault and them getting what they deserve.

6. 1,000 small affiliates sending 2,000 clicks a month struggle and get screwed.


Laugh at me and deny it all you want and call me ridiculous (some will probably get angry) but I know somewhere there is at least someone sweating bricks. Let's not be naive. :upsidedow Not everyone is dishonest but some are.

Wow exceptional. I have to agree. Traffic numbers speak. Ya know at this point I really want to think I am not getting shaved 60% for fucks sake. But the cynic in me realizes where money is involved.. cold hard cash.

Anyhow very interesting. And thank you for taking a shot at my stats quandry. The reason I used to send like 100 hits to 200 progs a day. Now i send 5000 to 4 progs and do way better. The problem is I think you are more open to fluctuation statisticly with only 4 progs over say 50 but you do make more plus less overhead.

Also yes you are "tighter" with the prog and maybe do get shaved less. There are other forces at work when you narrow your traffic focus but as yet I am not sure what they are. :) One is that you of course can choose the best progs (obviously) and all progs are not equal as in my theory.

this month has been crap for me :( dunno why, hopefully next month will be better

Naahh.. Its not all the tubes fault.. A lot of people need to look at their business model and compare it to 8 years ago, ( if they have been around that long ) and they will find some mistakes that can get those sales up again.

Last week sales were really good; this week they started off terrible! Had to switch cascades a lot, make phone calls, send emails, etc etc. "Cyber Monday" was shitty, too.

Still sucking dick here. Ya know thing is for the period I am just a bit below average, only because I had a couple superb days around the 18th 19th. So I think I am really just being held back by statistical averages.

The last 8 days are so bad that I cant believe I am actually not too bad for the period (which is how you have to look at it)

I think from the time we send our first 100 hits, based on 10,000 variables, we are immediately locked into a ratio and altho we can tweak it, without major changes a certain traffic is help in check by the ratio and if you go up you will go down. And vice versa. If you send a certain number of hits over a certain time x surfers will join based on the predetermined mathematical ratio.

It is all out of our hands. :) So look at the whole period is what I am telling myself. Forget that it sucks the last week.

Fucken snowed last night while I was comiserating on the board so up after a couple hours sleep to deal with that. :Oh crap

I have never even come close to doing as bad a 1:1000 and from what I have been reading that sounds good. My site does not get a lot of traffic and none of it is junk so that must be why.

Mathematical statistical analytical multi-dimensional sales ratios. Yup, not much can be done in that area. (Although I found drinking brandy, watching Victoria's Secret tv specials and smoking a doob helps somewhat; not in sales but in terms of my anxiety ABOUT sales.)

The simple answer to this question is the problem of minimum payouts. You can send 100 sales, 1 to 100 different sites, and never get paid out on any sales because you haven't reached the minimum payout threshold.

The deeper answer is not all clicks are created equal. Sending tranny-seeking traffic to a straight dating site isn't a profitable venture. Matching your customer to your product is key in improving your ratios.

See? It's not all numbers and philosophy :)
