Cheater Alert: Using Medium Pimpin's Info!

So as I do with all new affiliates, I was checking out the new ones that joined and noticed that one seemed very familiar it was Kevin from Medium Pimpin', his address, one of his blogs listed as main url, and even had some traffic coming from it. The only problem is that they have another account they use for their blogs so it raised a red flag.

The payout info is a paxum payout to [email protected] which after checking with the guys I found is no one associated with them. So other programs might want to check to see if this guy is scamming you as well and likely tarnishing MP's solid rep.

BTW, the traffic was clearly coming from a hitbot as well, so sure the signups in the coming days would have been 100% fraud.

Good catch Jimmy.

fatfoo 11-30-2010 02:33 PM

It sucks when traffic is from a hitbot. Good luck.

Yeah, we ban a number of them every week like any program. This one needed to outed because it sucks to see them using Kevin's info as they are solid affiliate as well as program.

TampaToker 11-30-2010 03:10 PM

Thanks for looking out Wizzo much appreciated. We have accounts with most programs as we do promote a lot of people ourselves also but at this point we should be set up as check payout after the whole epass debacle so if you have us in your system and have any issues with a 2nd acct or what not PLEASE contact us.

Thanks.

Has Paxum said anything about Jeremy? Have he been banned, similar to what epass used to do?

The only way for a server to know from where the surfer is coming is if the surfer (ie the browser) tells it so. When you surf the web depending on your security settings your browser is sending the URL you're coming from with each and every HTTP request.

In the case of a hitbot, the operator of the bot may pick and choose what URL to provide the server as the referring URL. If he wanted to he could put disney.com there but it wouldn't add up with the fake info he's using....

He's using a hitbot, which you can put any referral url you want into it. So to be clear, even though the stats said it was coming from their site it wasn't. There was no links on their page to the sites he was supposedly sending to.

No he doesn't, that's one of the 100s of MediumPimpin blogs that send great traffic, again he was just using a hitbot.

We still have not received any word from Paxum as to how they plan to deal with this account.

They are looking into it but I guess this will be a good opportunity for them to display how they plan to deal with fraud as from what I am told you need to supply them with your ID and information to get a CARD so they can easily stop this user from getting another account with them based on the credentials he has already supplied.

We are also going to inquire with our legal team about what steps can be taken to acquire this users information from paxum so we can go after him for possible identity theft, though we are still looking into this.
