For all the flack that the posters on here get...
 

it never fails that I can post a question, and someone...generally multiple someones...will offer an answer or information.

Granted, I am female, but I am not young, nor pretty, so it's not like those things factor into it.

GFY is a good board to this day, and good people post here.

Do I think that the industry as a whole has shot itself in the foot in multiple ways, including this board being wide open to everyone? Sure.

But that doesn't change the fact that if I can't get my css to work right, or I have a question about a monitor purchase for my son that GFY is the first, and usually only place I have to go to get answers.

Yup, there is usually some actual help mixed in with the jack-ass-ness.

Perhaps it's not so important if everyone is on the board. Perhaps it's more important who is in the same room with you right now.

All the flack I get are pretty much on spot so I don't complain...

j/k - it's probably because those of us who are experts at particular things, run businesses in those things, and fly sigs w/ links to those businesses would like to show off our expertise in hopes to get clicks to our sig links. Okay, and some of us actually do enjoying helping people if we can, and answering a question is an easy enough thing to do. :thumbsup
