:1orglaugh - that set off some memories.

People from the LA area back then may recall KROQ was the "punk" station at the time. I was driving home from closing the bar when they interviewed some guy from 999 and at the end they were giving tix to the 10th caller (or something like that), I called when I walked in the door and won tix to see 999 and the dead kennedys. I knew nothing of either of them.

We get to the S&M Civic, and I have decent seats, with my seat being on the aisle. As soon as the lights went down the music started and everyone stood up. So much for my great seat. So I stand up and step into the aisle so I had an unobstructed view.

After several minutes I am slammed from behind by some guy doing the pogo. Not knowing what was going on I spun around, ready to clock the first person within range. The look on this punkers face as he tried to pogo back up from whence he came was something I remember 25 years later.

i wish they would get back together with jello for just one tour. i'd be there no matter what it took..

scuba steve 12-01-2010 11:30 AM

eh i think its hard/painful to see bands 20, 25 years after their peak. it just isn't the same. i'd rather listen to them and think how much they rocked versus having my bubble popped with a shitty performance

WebairGerard 12-01-2010 11:34 AM

should be great show :thumbsup

The Dead Kennedys are playing the Ventura Theater this Saturday, and my assistant's band, Killroy, is one of the opening acts. Porn director Jim Powers is the bassist in the band.

Did you tell him to get off your damn lawn, too?

CaptainHowdy 12-01-2010 12:17 PM

Retro is poison, that includes Jello Biafra and his "new" band...

fuzebox 12-01-2010 12:18 PM

Oh shit that's tonight? Oh well, already got tickets to the MMA awards...

Funny that baddog was a grumpy old man even 25 years ago. I guess he was probably still at least 50 at the time.

That's a generous estimate.

Fletch XXX 12-01-2010 01:51 PM

nice. old school is the only school. :thumbsup

shermo 12-01-2010 01:58 PM

Should be a great show. Too bad Jello is not up there with them though. :\

djroof 12-01-2010 01:59 PM

only soccer for here ;) Europa League... Europe :D

Jim_Gunn 12-01-2010 02:15 PM

Can't imagine the DK's without Jello. They took a lot of years off, then lawsuits and acrimony and now touring with other singers means they will likely never play together again with Jello. Only Bad Religion keeps on ticking and sounds better than ever!

jonnydoe 12-01-2010 02:40 PM

Sounds like it will be a Holiday in Cambodia.

Sarah_Jayne 12-01-2010 03:00 PM

I think I would need Jello too.

michael.kickass 12-01-2010 03:09 PM

I envy you man, it's gonna be awesome for sure.

billywatson 12-01-2010 05:17 PM

Awesome! Last time I saw them was in 1985 at an abandoned wax museum in Phoenix. East Bay Ray shreds. Jello wore plastic surgeon gloves and a Shriners' cap.
