Whats Up With All These Fake Bidders?

I am pretty new on GFY but have been around the block for a few years, certainly not a newbie in adult sites and domains.

I enjoy GFY, found this forum to have a ton of good information and have already made a couple of really good contacts. With that being said what is up with all these fake bidders or people who back out of bids and offers when it is time to pay? I understand it can happen sometimes but damn some of the people I have been dealing with lately are full of shit.

They place a bid or email an offer and then when you accept the offer or they are the final bid the BS starts. No replies for 2-3 days when requesting payment and transfer information.

A good example, a freaking $16 domain.
The guy finally replies and says "Oh I didnt realize it was a Moniker account". Funny cause in orange bold letters I write Registrar: Moniker and even state fast free push to your Moniker account. I then say well thats not a big deal cause it takes a few minutes to open one up, the answer then is "OK". Finally the guys comes back with, hey my client has decided not to buy the domain lol. Your client? On a $16 domain? Hmmmm OK. Everyone has a client now a days lol it's just ridiculous. It's not the $16 that bothers me, just the principle of wasting my time.

Another one for a $200 domain backs out after 3 days of pursuing him. I had a bid for $150 and of course accepted the $200 offer. After the 3 days the person comes back with, sorry we purchased another domain. I then try to contact the second bidder who of course now knows he has leverage and tries to offer only $100 for it.

It's happened several times, I know it's part of the business but seriously people if you are going to place a bid or make an offer you should be correct and follow through with it. It's just good business and it avoids wasting peoples time and also prevents them from losing out on potential serious bidders.

Sorry for the rant but my experience is that ever time a seller does something wrong people jump on them quickly and in bunches but bidders can do this all the time and just ruin a possible sale without any thought what so ever.

Happens to me all the time!

Can't remember who exactly, but there was one recently who made me an offer on a name and it was a fair offer so I replied saying I would accept it and then never heard back.

That was about 4 weeks ago...

Had countless others too.

It is disappointing indeed. I had a guy who bought links, it sounded like they were for him, when it was time to renew I emailed and asked if he would like to renew, but now he says "I'll need to ask the client, please leave the links there as he will want to renew", so I left them there out of good will but eventually my emails weren't getting replied to. I gave 2 weeks free out of good will but looking back I was conned.

A pity that it happened to you.

So far i have had only good deals. Publicly i have sold just a few domains but all without problems. And just a few days ago i sold another 3 privately in a matter of minutes, after we arranged the price, i got the money and transfered the domains in less than 10 minutes.

Also i have bought some domains without problems.

I think the key is in choosing wisely with whom do you do trades, and to have some back to hold your domains if you don't feel well with selling them for the price you can get or to a person who you are not sure you can trust.

Good luck and wish you some good trades.
