for years and we are aliing about 1/2 of 1% so a drastic decline in conversions or signups has nothign to do with adware.

You're talking about a % of traffic that doesn't translate evenly to a corresponding % of conversions or signups. It's old knowledge that sources of "newb" traffic usually converts best. They're more likely to get infected by adware, and more likely to be a source of your sales. The % of traffic being intercepted could represent a much larger % of lost conversions or sales.

At this point, I am shocked if someone isn't shopping for a lawyer to take class action in California. Not that I would do it (I am in another country) but damn, this seems pretty much like a workable situation.
