The affiliate thing is great and all but I want to work on shooting content not only for adult but for some mainstream projects as well. In talking with a couple people on the board they suggested I post a thread and see if there are any takers.

Option A) I am looking for someone who would be interested in investing in an equipment purchase in exchange for a specific number of scenes including stills and editing complete with 2257 docs and exclusive ownership of the product. No catch involved. Provide an HMC150, Ill shoot the number of required scenes and everyone goes off happy.

Option B) I have a mainstream full feature script I have written who's stories centers around a girl who leaves for Hollywood to be a movie star and returns home a few years later after a life in porn to reclaim a lost relationship. Product and company placement will be throughout the film and will be shown at various film festivals in addition to internet marketing, etc... It worked well for Mr. Skin's business and if I can get half the number that saw Knocked Up exposed to this film, it could be a great win-win situation.

It seems like a decent opportunity instead of paying $3k for shit traffic that may or not sell. At least this way you get something back for your investment (either content or product placement/advertising outside the box).

I can afford the talent. HMC150 is like $3500. My mainstream projects will fund my future content shoots. Plus I have a whole sorority full of sisters at UF that I can always turn to for talent.

As far as the adult industry, no experience really. I am making the transition from being a teacher of film and TV. I have worked a lot of non-adult projects but nothing I can post without naming directors or clients and I want to be respectful to them as they might not be as accepting of my potential new career.

I am more of a mainstream writer/editor/videographer/filmmaker. My current mainstream script is already written but could be revised quickly for inclusion of a company who takes the offer for product/company placement.

Budget cuts just came at a bad time and unexpected otherwise I would have planned my transition more smoothly.

First off sparky, it is not my dream to be a porn shooter. Unlike many in adult, I am not stuck shooting skin for a living. I actually have earned a Bachelors and a Masters in Film. Second, mainstream is my forte and will always be my forte. Having said that, even as a mainstream film/editor, I have the basic skills of composition, lighting, and vision to bring any scene to life, which is more than I can say for the majority of "porn shooters".

It is a mean to an end. If I have to shoot adult content to do the real passion and work that I have, then so be it. If the offer doesn't interest you, great. But someone who actually understands mainstream and the actual film business will see the opportunity as a smart investment considering mainstream anything reaches more viewers on average than even the best marketed porn. Look at YouTube and some of the shittiest videos produced that have 400k-500k hits. And these are by people without much experience or knowledge on how to write a competent script much less follow the rules in the film making process.

No joke at all.

First, I have no desire to market myself to the adult industry. It's not entirely impossible to be as successful in both markets but from the looks of much of the content shot today, many porn shooters could not successfully transition to mainstream but many mainstream could just transition to porn. It's like shooting porn is complicated or that there is a ton of undiscovered ways to shoot new and innovative content, hence much of the content looking the same across the board (save for a few talented and creative directors).

Second, while I am a mainstream artist, I have not entirely ruled out a career in adult. If it proves to be more lucrative, who knows. I do not want financing from the "industry", I am looking for a partner that sees the bigger picture. Furthermore, there are NO right reasons to be in adult. Everyone gets in it for whatever reasons. If there was NO money in it I doubt many of you would be in the "industry" today, hence why many have entered and left the "industry" since its inception.

Third, again, shooting people with or without clothes is a simple concept that applies to both. The talent is being able to find a compelling shot to satisfy the viewer, with or without clothes on. While Mr. Skin may have been successful prior to Knocked Up, they enjoyed far greater success because it was included in the movie. That is advertising that you cannot get just anywhere.

There's no need to retract any statements I made. I don't tell designers how to design just like I would not take criticism from those that do not have the same experience in my skill area. It would be the same as a plumber telling an architect to design a house. With the ridiculous amount of money being spent on dead traffic, this deal is no more risky than buying potential buyers/traffic.

Now I realize you are trying to be informative and helpful, albeit sarcastically at points, one has to wonder why the industry is hurting if creating such great porn is such an art form that has seen the amateur/girlfriend/etc... niche putting much of the professionally produced content to shame in terms of excitement and sales. This is not meant as any sort of disrespect to professional content producers but it doesn't support your position well when any Joe can pick up a camera and shoot a video that people love to watch.
