SCAM: My Health Insurance stoped paying for a Chronic Med.

As of April 2007 my Health Insurance will stop paying for Valtrex.

A medication I will have to use for the rest of my life.

Instead they are saying I must use Acycolvir.... A generic of a TOTALLY different drug..

I have no issue with generics, however this is not the generic of Valtrex the medication I use, rather a generic for a totally different older drug Ive never used..

And if insurance wont pay for Valtrex then fuck it I wont take anything..

I take Protonix (acid reflux for those wondering what ailment I have) and my insurance company wanted to stop paying for it to put me on the generic of Prilosec.

I gave it a shot for 1 month and it didn't work as well so I contacted my insurance company and they sent out an "over-ride" form that I took to my doctor. He signed off on it saying that the generic didn't work as well for me and that they needed to put me back on the medication he prescribed.

Wrong... It can also prescribed if you've had an organ transplant (or have HIV or anything that suppresses your immune system) in order to prevent a particular type of infection that can be life threatening.

Ummmm..... it's prescribed to HIV folk to prevent them from getting huge awful herpes outbreaks, and to organ transplat patients for the prevention of CMV disease. CMV and shingles are both a type of herpes.
