MMA fans- Great WEC card tonight on Versus tv!

There is a World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) card tonight on Versus (Ch. 603 on DirecTV) featuring three title fights, plus the WEC debut of former UFC champion Jens Pulver at the 145 lb. weight class.

I daresay that this may be more exciting than the last UFC PPV. WEC is now owned by the UFC, but it is no junior league. They have the same production values as the UFC and feature some of the best pound for pound fighters in the world including Urijah Faber defending his featherweight title, tough Middleweight Paulo Filho defending his title and Doug "The Rhino" Marshall defending his light heavyweight belt. Check your local cable listings!

    I miss Pride.

A girl once told me "Give me 8 inches and make it HURT".

So, I fucked her twice and hit her with a brick.

Pride wasn't that great. The ring sucked for one as opposed to cages and there were no elbow strikes either. Plus a lot of the former Pride fighters have been getting their ass handed to them in the UFC.

The reality is that 99% of the people who say Pride was better than UFC or any orgs are just being contrary to the popular appeal of the UFC to show that they are "cooler" than the fans that they perceive as johnny come latelies. It's posing, same as the douchebags that turn against their former favorite band when they become too popular.

That's your opinion and I'm cool with it. That being said I miss Pride and it won't make me change my mind. I for one, like the ring better than the octogon(TM)... (oh yeah! Zuffa LLC trademarked the octogon and has litigious tendencies), which gives a huge advantage to wrestlers for lay and pray, and also for dirtAy tactics(fence grabbing). The ring also looks way more professional. Most of the ring fights are more exciting because of this.

We are very lucky that the UFC started to enforce the inactivity rule, because it makes the fight more exciting.

You might not like the no elbow things, but i like it. The reason pride enforced it is because of cuts. How many times did you see a fight stop because of cuts to a fighter? How many times was it caused by elbows? These kinds of cuts are very hard to recover for the fighter, and might open again and again easily in subsequent fights.

What is more exciting? knees and kicks on the ground or no elbows? The card system of Pride is also better than the UFC and other orgs because they don't have any. Same thing for the round system, which one makes the better fight or the best judging?

Most of the refs were also better in Pride and they were carrying a camera for us to see POV style.

What about the grandiose entrances? What about the GPs? What about the NYE's?

What about the spectacle? The energy? The event?

What about Mark hunt's atomic butt drop?

                What about very suspicious mismatches?

What about a stadium filled at full capacity with 50 000+ MMA fans that have respect for the athletes and the sport? (Japanese don't boo fighters like americans and like ground game).

What about the majority of the Pride cards that were more exciting than the UFC cards?

What about the shitty cards that the UFC sell for an outrageous price on PPV thanks to TUF?

What about the legendary fights that took place in Pride?

I'm not a pride nuthugger, nor a UFC basher. Hell I even travelled out of my country to the US to see the UFC and I will do it again. I also watch every event.

I just miss Pride and all the things that I said. I also miss Sakuraba in his prime.

And for the Pride fighters getting their ass kicked: you can tell that to Rampage and Silva who both hold titles and are able to defend them successfully.

I like the UFC, but the UFC is very business oriented and they are looking to get a USA monopoly, and in the future a world monopoly on MMA. Hopefully someoene will step up with a decent product, like Mark Cuban so the fighters get other options for the A league.

And by the way, I never said that Pride is/was better than the UFC. I also won't call you a TUF noob because I have other things to do. I'm just nostalgic and regret not booking a trip to see Pride live before the collapse of the company.
