I'd like to say any donation made to help someone is always a good thing. Although given the current situation motives will be called into question.

Since Lars is finally speaking up and answering questions in this thread i'd like to say a few things as well.

Lars let's put all the bullshit aside, let's not talk about google, and yahoo and what's being done there, let's not talk about TGP's or regular forms of traffic, but let's do talk about what most people's main issue it torrent sites.

It's obvious you are going to take traffic from anywhere and there is not much we can do about that, we've established this months ago. People are going to hate, bitch, cause drama, and etc.

You said you are working with certain people to eliminate certain search terms that carry your ads.

We all know, and no one here including yourself can disagree that if we go to piratebay, or torrentspy, or many other torrent sites out there we will see AFF and at times Cams.com ads. This is a fact.

If we go to these sites and put into the search bar Chi** Porn, Lolita, 15 year old Sex, etc it will bring up many results and on every one of those pages are AFF links.

I understand you're going to accept torrent traffic if we like it or not.

But, if you support fighting CP, and support ASACP, and really do want to do the right thing wouldn't the proper decision to be to stop accepting their traffic and have them notify you when they have fixed the search feature to exclude any words that relate to CP, Underage and etc and to contact you when they have and you will start accepting their ads again?

I think this would be the proper thing to do instead of waiting for them to fix it and having the ads there.

So Sleazy, do you think this would be the proper way to send a message that you were 100% against CP?

That's not really an answer. I did not ask about how TGP's started, or which torrents were clean and which were not. 95% of them are dirty. He said they were working on solutions with affiliates to not have their links come up on CP searches.

Yes a lot of the net porn was started on stolen content, but it cleaned itself up and adapted.

Torrents p2p is based on stolen content, if there was no stolen anything on them, they would not exist.

The torrent search sites basically poll the "announcing" sites to find out what torrents are currently available. If you are using the common torrent sites (and most do) if a file appears on any one of them it appears on all of them at the same time, unless that particular site runs strict filtering (most of them don't). Even with filtering, of course, simple substitution in file names and additions of things like spaces and special characters pretty much make it impossible to filter the stuff out.

Go to torrentspy.com - search for "preteen sex" - I got three files for this simple search (and hornymatch ads, which will be an issue to be dealt with through the processes).

Understand how they work, and you will understand that they can't easily control what is on their sites.

I agree with you - and I agree with Will on this: If AFF is serious about helping the children, why don't they stop accepting torrent sites until they can show they are clean, rather than 'working to find a solution". Stopping paying these people would be a good solution.

Lars is going to work with whatever makes him money and there is nothing we can do about it. That's a given. All we can do is open eyes to shady tactics and hope people make the right decision.

I am not trying to argue that Lars is dirty, in my eyes this is true.

He said over and again in his thread that he has for years worked hard to fight CP and he continues to, and that he is working with different people to have those terms taken away.

The fact of the matter is simple, I can go to 10 or more torrent sites online right now, I can search CP, underage, preteen sex, 15 year old, 13 year old etc and I will get results with those keywords. When I look around that page there will be links to AFF.

It's been made clear to AFF over time that this is going on, and they turn a blind eye to it. I've sent numerous e mails to abuse and other places, as have other people.

Links have been posted here.

Sagi in a thread stated the links were gone from a page, they were not, he was called on it never replied.

If Lars wants to be on every torrent site on the planet he will be, and we cannot stop him.

He is openly saying that he is 100% fighting CP. If he is 100% against fighting CP, then why would he keep his links on sites with CP on it and wait for the solution. Why would he not remove AFF/Cams from these torrent sites until they made these adjustments. Wouldn't that be doing everything he can possibly do to fight CP?

Sleazy you are dodging the question at hand.

This has nothing to do with your knowledge of porn sites, torrent sites, tgp's, or cheeseburgers.

What is has to do with is simple.

AFF has links on sites that link to CP. They are now saying they are a huge advocate of CP and will work hard to stop it, and they are doing so by donating a large amount of money to fight CP. While they are doing this with Joan they have links up which they are aware of on sites with CP on them. They said that these people are working to eliminate their ads from pages that contain that certain keywords.

Wouldn't it make sense to pull your links from pages with CP until they fix this issue?

aff is a HUGE corporation and it turns like a battleship. it doesn't turn on a dime.

lars has kids. he won't tolerate any advertising with CP and will find ways to legally shut it down. they have to fill all the legal holes first though or they get sued.

i'm assuming if they drop a torrent site and it has a legal removal form and they can't prove the removal form isn't being used they could be open for lawsuit - so there are some legal issues they are working out I'm sure.

but I can guarnetee if you find CP on a site Lars will find a way to remove that site from dealings with AFF one way or another. I know him on a personal level and no matter what you all say about him I honesltly KNOW he'll remove it one way or another. Just takes time is all.

Whats funny is these same crusaders against cp posted a torrentspy link weeks ago. They posted it again and I looked again and the links were still the same. So I reported the links to torrentspy. Guess what? 2 hours later the links were gone with notes from torrentspy. So to me that means that all these cp crusaders (aka aff haters) didnt bother to report the links, and decided to leave them up for people to download (they werent cp anyways, only one was even suspect and it had no seeders, which means it couldnt be downloaded. The other 2 links both said 18 year old girls in the title) instead of making sure the links were removed.

In other words they didnt want to get rid of their little cp weapon against aff. Its pathetic. REALLY pathetic. So they would rather leave the cp up instead of risk loosing a chess piece in their aff hate game. PATHETIC!

This isn't a new problem.

They aren't that large. You and I have both worked for truly large companies that can't make a decision without 20 meetings and 5 signatures.

The owners of Various Inc. are plugged in to the company well enough to make changes quickly. It's the nature of the beast. They aren't Xerox.

If they really wanted to do something it would have been done.

Also Sleazy, I know you don't follow this issue close enough to know but issuing takedown notices is not the way to fight these sites. The MPAA and the RIAA know this as well. Adult isn't the only one having these problems. It's like playing whack a mole.

A big reason why AFF is being targeted is because without the sponsors that keep these sites funded they would be severely crippled. That is one of the ways to stop them. AFF is one of the main sponsors. It's also the one that was built on the backs of webmasters in this community.

For them to continue to send checks to the sites that are now one of the main sources of CP, Mass content theft from the very WEBMASTERS who helped build Various/AFF/Cams.com and also helps to spread some of the worst installs on the planet is truly sad. It's actually pretty insulting.

AFF ain't no battleship. Like most web companies, it is a nimble organization that can pretty much turn on a dime (read the business2.0 article for a better understanding of it all). It isn't the ability to fix things that is lacking, but rather the corporate and personal will of the people in charge.

Sleazy, when you find yourself agreeing with stickyfingerz, you have a problem. Think past the end of your nose, pull away a minute from the nice paychecks that Various / Medley are sending you, and consider the reality of the situation. You know how long it would take you to get CP off your sites. You know how long it would take you to stop linking to CP once informed. AFF isn't all that different in the end.

If those sites have no place to report links that need removed then they are not dmca compliant, and you should report them to their host, and to the dmca etc. I agree in those situations AFF should pull their affiliate accounts. So report them to aff also if you find that.

I have reported the links to AFF in a few different ways nothing has happened.

I have also contacted hosts and never got a reply, or was put on hold and no one comes back.
