Yeah they send out FHG update emails etc - just they seem un-contactable like the program is on auto pilot

have you updated your payment type to check or wire..
you will have to scroll down on the edit profile page to do this... and mail them following the instructions on that page.
it seems like they reset everything..

i have requested check payments by mail and it was approved at the same day

The date when the checks arrives is strongly depending on the address. It can take from three days even up to a month.
If you do not get you payment please log-in to your account and check your profile first, maybe you can find out that some data is missing.
