Just so we keep it clean, here's how I ran the contest. I ran a random number generator at http://www.random.org/cgi-bin/randseq?min=1&max=20 and pulled the post that matched up. If it landed on a conversation post or BS post (there were a few) I grabbed the next one. Now Everyone on this list needs to hit me up ICQ so I can arrange to hook up at the show to get you your pass.

You know, just a little thing I have to say. I did this "contest" (if you want to call it that) because I saw all these companies auctioning off passes for sales and joins and to keep their company name on the first pages (i.e. every 50th, 100th, etc. link gets one) and I thought to myself, that I would like to give back to our little "community" a chance to go to the party to some people that might not have the abilities to get the sales or whatever and in the true spirit of what this industry once was, which is a community of people who have come together for a common cause for freedom and for the things we like and believe in.

When I went to my first shows in 1999 and 2000 (which is late in the game in comparison to some), people were so goddamn gracious and helpful and actually seemed to want me to succeed.

Now, I know the noose has tightened a bit and business is business, but I was always drawn to this industry because no matter who you were, or what you were into, if you were a decent person, everyone (well most anyway) accepted you. We are societies rejects in a lot of ways and that binds us together in a way I never saw before. I was an NYPD cop, a stockbroker, a CEO of a mainstream company, an entrepreneur in many ways, and I've been to hundreds of mainstream trade shows in various countries, and never saw such a varied group of people getting along.

I figured instead of going commercial I'd give them away, totally randomly. But I really wanted to do that for people who didn't have the connections to get them, and probably weren't going to go. These sponsorships (as you know) are not cheap, and I bought a full VIP sponsorship just to basically give it away. In my new company, I use our traffic much more then we will be selling (If it's good why would I sell it right? But I will sell some, there's enough to go around) so I don't really need the exposure as much as some companies do, but more importantly, I did it As a thank you to GFY, to guys like Steve Bugbee and J$tyle$, Duke, and Mark Tiarra and a bunch of others [that I am leaving out because this is not a fucking academy awards speech], and all those that, when i started, saw a brand new potential competitor and rather than alienating Tim and I, showed us the ropes and hooked us up with passes etc. when we needed them. Our industries succeed because we stick together, it's that simple. So I give away these passes and say "hey come party with us we are all in the same "family" regardless of what "crew" we are in".

Anyway, IF anyone who got a pass from me can just get one somewhere else, do the right thing and pass it on to someone who can't, the karma will pay for itself tenfold. And to those that have passes to spare, remember your peeps and don't let any passes go to waste. Let's make this party memorable for all, not just the privileged few.
