Good lawyer for domain-issue

About 18 months ago or so, when katrina ravage the US...
I lost a very very veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy good domain.

Because i had this domain at directnic, and everything didnt work so well that time. No phonesupport, no answering on the emails what so ever.

I emailed, I called, I tried the online-support...Nothing worked.
Now, when I see what kind of fucking idiots they are, i want to hire a lawyer to look into this matter for me. Cause this domain is worth A LOT.

Its a premium domain... So, who can help me out? I need a GOOD lawyer with lots and lots of experience in this area... Someone who works in the same area as the Directnic HQ.

DirectNic starts notifying you 90 days before the domain expires, then there's another 30 days or so "on hold" where you can still renew. Are you telling me you weren't able to reach them for 4 months? Exactly when did you start attempting to renew the domain?

But there are several lawyers who post here and several other internet lawyers who don't, so I'm sure you can find one to talk to.

Of course, waiting a year and a half before actually complaining will probably also hurt your "case".

I emailed them several times, more then 5 for sure.
I still have the emails I sent, I still have the phonerecords of me calling them, i know i tried more then 5 times (i would say about 10), online support - only god knows..

Their website didnt work for 5 cent during this period.
They know it, they even wrote some shit on directnic.com (yes i have screenshoot form that).

Why I didnt do anything, is because im dont live in the US.
Be sure, if directnic was located in my country, i would book a ticket directly to their office and make them understand what they have done to me.

I have done what I could as a customer, they didnt live up to the support as they should have. Thats the problem. Due to that, I lost my domain.

You sre asking for advice on getting a lawyer for a domain dispute issue. Sex.com was/is by and far the most public domain dispute ther has been yet. So, if you wanted advice, the guy who first helped kremen by guiding him to the right people was probably not the best one to blow off.

Like Peaches said. DN sends out 90 day, 60 day, 30 day and immediate (the day of the renewal) warning notices on it's domains. It then allows you to renew for up to 30 days after your expiration date at the same price you originally contracted for.

So, unless you waited all the way through 30 days past expiration of the domain to try to renew, I don't understand how a week or so of intermittent service at DN would have put you in this spot.

It doesn't matter if you care about sex.com. The lawyers who specialize in domain disputes is who you are after a reference to. The person you blew off knows many of the names of those lawyers, how good they are and where they are.

Even if they notify you a year before, you should be able to renew the domain the last day if you so wanted. If you cant, then your register fucked up.

If you are going to buy a house and have signed all contracts but 1.
And the broker tells you that you must come by the end of the month to sign the last contract. You should be able to come the last day of the month and sign it, IF they have closed their office due to some problem they have on their own and you cant contact the broker in ANY WAY and because of that you lose the house, then THEY fucked up.

Not only that, THE DOMAIN SAID IT WAS REGISTERED until MAY 2006.

The issue I have can only be solved by asking a american person who deals with lawyers often. But to go further or more specific, get in touch with someone who had problems with a register before...

Be sure, that this kind of issue only happends in the US...

Good lawyers will refer you to other good lawyers. So why don't you call up a good lawyer and tell him you are looking for one who specializes in people who wait 1 1/2 years to decide that they want their domain back that they failed to renew after 90, 60, and 30 day warnings of it expiring.

But check the expiration DATE.
I lost the domain a few days after that screenshoot.

Shakula... you really have no hope here. Blaming Katrina isn't going to do much for you, because Katrina didn't happen until the end of August.

You got X number of warnings before May 2005 expiry date. The the domain expired. You still did nothing for another 3 months... and then when it finally came up for complete deletion then you suddenly sprung into action when New Orleans was ass deep in water, in the middle of the worst disaster to hit the US in ages?

...and you want to sue them?

Holy fuck. The judges will be laughing their asses off at you. Any time in a 6 month window you could have spent $15 and renewed the domain and nothing happened. By the time Katrina hit, the domain was already expired 90 days.
