Speed dating is a formalized matchmaking process or dating system whose purpose is to encourage people to meet a large number of new people

Tried it twice but both times I ended hooking up in a relationship the normal way before I went on real dates with anyone. I did like it though and got good response.

If you and her can't carry on a 5 minute conversation then the idea of going out to dinner is pretty mute. Also you get to eye each other up in real life so overall it beats the heck out of online dating imo.

One thing you need to be beware when speed dating is the age range(much wider than in bars). But they usually have age categories. You can possibly have some really good surprises there.

i dont do bars or clubs so thats not an option for alot of people. Plus in the 20+ years i did hang out in bars or clubs all I got was laid. Never found a woman i would want to date on a reg basis. (and I worked in bars for 18 years)

A very well known GFYer and I went to a speed dating event a month ago. I thought it was horrible. The women were 99% dogs IMHO and I couldnt imagine spending more then 6 minutes with any of them. The guy I went with had lower standards then I did LOL ;). There was 8 guys and 6 women so that meant every guy had to sit out 2 rounds. (they claimed 2 women called at the last minute and canceled). The speed dating manager was a moron. all in all id give it a 2 out of 10.

Im actually going to try it again tomorrow night (as they gave me a free event cause the first one was soo bad). I dont have high hopes but figured why not its free.

2/3 of the women at the event i did were professionals. the other 1/3 were administrative.

i didnt get the feeling any of them were gold diggers

Well I don't go to clubs or bars...I "work" out of my home...and the social groups I hang out with the male to female ratio is like 30:1.

So, yeah....to come across a dateable chick it's a bit difficult right now.

I used to host speed dating events in California. You'd be surprised how attractive the women were. The guys on the other hand... =X

Definitely worth a shot once or twice...anything after that and you will get sick of it
