there is no such thing as an "amateur glamour glow"... either a picture has a glow effect on it or it doesn't.. it's all done using the same techniques.

1. Cut out the image.
2. Duplicate Layer
3. Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur. radius of around 3.
4. Set blend mode of the blurred layer to Overlay or Screen mode. Overlay works best.

and there's your glowy glamour effect.. It gives the skin greater highlights and contrasts..
