Okay, so me and my friend put togather a blog site.

It doesn't look bad, still trying to figure out how to do some of the details.

How would we work to get traffic? (I know you can buy traffic, and trade links but what are other ways?)

you can buy top links and banners on sites that have alot of traffic already

The best way to get traffic to your blog is via search engines. Optimize your pages and wait. It could take a while to get good positions but when the traffic starts flowing it rocks.

yeap...blogs are for SE traffic...you could buy traffic from tgps but i think its unsuitable.

probably a good idea is to start 10-20 free hosted blogs to drive traffic to your main blog, see sig for details

Nice idea but not sure it would work

I think it was the search.orange.com that held it's cache pages for a few days
So you could pull your own domain up on there seach page
Then submit the search page to google knowing orange.com had a high page rank
But that was a year or two ago now and like all easy moves has came to a end

I agree. It takes time. Do not stop working on SEO if you don't see soon traffic from SE.
Take a look in Google webmasters section for some good advices on SEO.

I cant believe no one brought this up, but Wordpress has all sorts of cool plugins to help you with SEO. Headspace, SEO friendly images, All In One SEO Pack, etc....Very easy to install and operate.

well, Headspace does that and a lot more. On one of my sites, i have both. On the newer ones, just Headspace. Check out SEO smartlinks too, for a good plug in

DO NOT BUY LINKS unless you know exactly what you are doing. Google catches you and they will shit list ever domain you have.

SEO the pages, Have good QUALITY POSTS. No RSS. Once that is done, Start trading links ( ICQ ME to talk more about that ) You can buy some POSTS from other blogs in the same niche and thats not really an issue for google.

I have other ideas that work as well. Ask me about them.

But DONT PAY for traffic when you can get it for FREE!

There are some great review sites (my sig has one) that will give your members' area a complete review. Not only will they give you more exposure but also offer some helpful ideas to improve upon your site. I would recommend taking a look at Webmaster Score (Relentless is the guy who will set you up), you can submit your site for reviews with a large group of reputable review sites. Best of luck.

Buy cheap TGP traffic at www.trafficholder.com.

Get to toplists and put link somewhere at top of Your blogs so people who leave blog might leave it through those links and You'll get better quality traffic in return.
And join also toplists that ranks not on hits IN/OUT but on total traffic of sites, so You'll rank high with huge TGP traffic and get some traffic from them, even if You put links to them on bottom of Your blog which don't generate clicks.
