What are you doing to protect the identity of your models?

I just came across (linked on another board), and it made me wonder...

It's always been a given that for most models, their friends and family would eventually figure out what they did.

However, with the current rise of groups of internet trolls who take pleasure in causing as much damage as possible to people's personal life, it reaches a whole new level. In the example I linked, trolls sent out messages to her friends list on myspace and are mailing printed hardcore pictures of her to her family.

Looking at places like /b/, I'm fairly sure that this sort of thing is likely to happen more often in the future, and in even more extreme ways.

Of course, it will eventually harm the industry, and especially the models that are the core of our business.

So, does anyone have ideas on how to deal with this?

Depends.

1. Limited sales of content. Good record keeping on who has model releases.
2. If model I.D.'s are released. Void contract. No refund. Sue per terms outlined IN model release.
3. Go after site, image host, etc for site providing backbone to posting I.D.. Track down poster.

There are many things you can, and could do. Both in prevention, and enforcement.

However, my bet is most of the people responding to this thread will say the models signed up for this to get the quick cash, so fuck em. They knew what they were in for when signing the release.

I explain everything to the girls before they even come over for the shoot. I tell them that their photos and/or video will be inside of the "members only" area and I also tell them that I create promo galleries for my affiliates and they they will be distributed on the internet in order to generate sales to the paysite. The girls need to provide valid identification for my records and they need to sign the release form before any shooting takes place. At that time, they are giving up their rights to the content and providing me with the permission to distribute the content online....or any other way how I see fit. With that being said, they fully understand and realize that the content shot of them will be on the internet for people to see. If someone that they personally know comes across the content, that's not my problem. It's real simple...if the girl doesn't want people to see her on the internet then she should have never came over for the shoot in the first place.

I posted it again because it was a 5-page thread (too long to just copy-paste) which was very relevant to the industry (surfer trolls doing their best to destroy a random model's life and joking they might drive her to suicide) and it was not on an industry board.

I have learned to tell the girls what things they can do to protect themselves because 100% of the time the ONLY reason they were found on the net was their own mouth. Hell my site is hard for me to fucking find.

1. Tell them not to share their "porn name". It took all of 12 seconds for her porn name to be googled and I get a phone call saying how the hell did my friends find out so fast. It was a wood working company that was 99% men and she was like the main girl that you would meet as you walked in the front door and even handed out the pay checks. How long do you think it took before every guy knew she was banging her friends? I can tell you it did not take as long as it did for you to just read that story HAHA.

I think the problem with net is people think they are hidden so their dark side really comes out. Like outting models thats so fucked up and serves no point.You know if you met whoever is doing that in person they would probably border on meek.
I bet if it wasnt for the net you would have probably 75 percent cp viewers, people trying to pick up 14 yrs old girls, people stealing things they know they have no right too.
