Google position

Hi, I wonder if someone could offer advice on what has happened?

I have been building links and got my site in to 8th position in google for my chosen keyword. Two days ago it was still there. I checked today to see if there was any advancement and ..... It's disappeared off the face of the earth. I have a page appear on page 3 of the search results, but my top level domain seems to have vanished.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is it normal? Is it anything to do with any recent backlinks?

Thanks very much for any help.

Hi Cooldude, thanks for th reply. The domain and site is new - around 6 - 7 weeks old. I have been link building, slowly, from launching the site. All links are one way backlinks (directories, etc) or reciprocal with similar sites.

I do not believe that I have used any blackhat methods.

Most likely it is in the sand box.. Keep doing the exact same thing and see if it comes back. Had it been an older domain I would have thought to check the links you just recently got and make sure none were black listed.

I seem to be losing this battle :-(

I've continued link building, getting more and more SE traffic and back up the rankings...happy days. Yesterday everythings was OK and I submitted to a number of blog directories BANG...today I'm now nowhere at all. My site is not returned for any of my keywords. Even if I seach using my site's name (where I would appear at no 1) I'm now not even on the first 20 pages.

Does anyone know what could have happened? I have removed the reciprocal links for the directories that I submitted to yesterday. Could it be someting to do with those?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much

Happening to me too (site launched in May but came online in about March). I think Google was most stable for me when I had an active adwords account. Coincidence?

If it's really new Google might be testing the CTR in different positions.

Google Dance is not an appropriate term, it may be due to the fluctuations in the ranking positions. New websites are launching day by day, they may be competing against you.. You should try to keep up with them until the SE decides to whom authority should be given.

Thanks all again for the advice. I think this is more than just Google Dance. Since adding those links, it has been like I have been virtually removed. For example I was receiving hundreds of referalls each day from google. Yesterday it was just 3. Does google penalise sites for adding links to sites it feels are not playing by its rules?

Its just one of those Google things, dont worry about it. These things happen all the time. Can take weeks or months for it to reappear.

that's normal dude you bec. sometimes youre ranking is going down sometimes going up so when you are in the 3rd page to day you need to target to be on the 2nd page.

Random bitching: I'm logged into my webmaster tools/analytics account on one browser and my site is tops for the term. On another browser and asking a friend to search, it's nowhere to be found.

How are you doing that?
Over the past 5 days, my primary site has had 14% of all traffic come from Google and a combined 3% of traffic come from Bing and Yahoo. I'd like to up numbers for the latter two.

The more indexed pages yÓu have helps you so much. My first main objective is to get over 100 indexed pages and then start working on google positioning.

My main site has been penalized 3 times by Google since I've launched it late April of this year.

I've used free blogs for backlinks. Invisible text (unintentionally because of CSS and regular html code). on page keyword spam, and other stuff I can't remember. After fixing the problems and filing reconsideration requests, my traffic has returned to normal ~20 visits a day. It's going to take an eternity for me to get some conversion.

I'm a newbie my self, and suck at getting adult traffic. For me it's easier getting traffic with a Computer graphics artist site. I post my artwork on the cg-Artist forums and that drives traffic. Porn forums are different, most of the stuff there is pirated content.

I recommend doing SEO experiments on a free page like a thumb blogger page. Find out what you can and can't get away with.

If your free site gets a Google penalty you'll lose no sleep over it, no money lost, and you'll learn what not to do.

If your paid site gets a Google penalty you'll lose sleep over it, lose money, lose time and effort filing reconsideration requests (it takes over a month to recover after filing a request if you fixed the items being penalized). But, you'll learn what not to do. This method is, of course, the hard way.

Sometimes google re-indexes and moves the SERPs (Results) around, but you should keep checking as you can come back. If you dont come back then you may have to look into it and check the webmaster tools as u might have a message from google m8

Do exactly that... Slow link building... And most importantly is that it is relevant links. Don't just link spam.

When you drop to page 3 it was most likely a link devaluation from all the links you had worked in recently. You were going too fast or your links were too concentrated or not relevant enough. Check my sig.

Look into getting IN POST links on blogs that are in your niche and have PR.
